Have you tried it on you MINI ?

No.  That is my next test print.

@charles-h13

have you had a chance to try it on the mini yet?  I have it in my basket waiting for someone else to test it. 😊

RE: Review: Prusament PC Blend

I have had good luck printing small parts with the new Prusament PC Blend on the mini. Most of the parts for the MK3S I printed on the mini except for the larger parts. I am using the stock textured sheet without any prep (no glue or anything - just clean). When I first got the printer, the sheet did not seem to hold on to PETG very well, and that kind of filament usually sticks very well to the textured plate. So my textured plate may be different than normal and yours may require glue stick to release. Also, I cannot print very large parts or parts that are very dense with PC on the mini - they warp and generally fail. I personally would recommend trying something very small first to see how well the plate holds, just in case it holds too much.

How small?  5cmx5cm?  I would use it to make hand tools and small brackets.

I did but it is a challenge.  I printed it a 270 and 110 on my MK3s and 260 and 100 on my Mini.  It did nto adhere to the mini.  I will try again this weekend.

I also like 3dxtech stuff and use this materials for my i3 (Extruder, fanshroud…):

PA6

PEEK

not so easy to print, but very tough and heat resistant.

As far as I know, the only supplier in Europe is filamentworld.de

RE: Review: Prusament PC Blend

Finally ordered some Prusament PC blend and it should be with me this weekend.

I am currently using my original textured sheet for printing PETG onto which sticks nice, actually very well until it cools then just pops off. Dosent even require an IPA wipe between prints, but I do it avery so often out of habit anyway.

This sheet is now getting towards 2 years old, but I do have a brand new TheKking Mk4, also a brand new PRUSA Textured sheet both of which have never been printed on yet.

What do you recommend?, one of the new sheets without glue stick, the original without or with gluestick?.

Thanks.

I use an old sheet for ABS, ASA, and PV Blend with a glue stick.

Thanks for the quick reply Charles, so you think I might experience too much adhesion with my original 2 year old sheet if I don't use a gluestick. ?

I have and it is only a matter of time.  I have roughed it up with a lot of ABS and ASA prior to PC Blend.  I hear stories of having their prints justs pop off.  Mine use to do that with some of the filaments.  Now, not so much.  It works well with PLA but that three stick too much.

RE: Review: Prusament PC Blend

I also think I might try the glue stick on the Buildtak surface (I have one of thee as well) as previously PC used to practically weld to this, but it is replaceable unlike the textured surface, I think I may have just talked myself into this approach for my own peace of mind. 😉

Obviously I will report my results here and I'll use your tip of using the plastic razor blade to smooth a thin coating onto the surface first.

For some reason I always thought the glue stick was to help the part adhere better!, not as a release agent...

Thanks again.

RE: Review: Prusament PC Blend

Hmmmm ... I thought I posted these in this thread but I must be on drugs.  😉

I used black PC Blend to print a replacement fan shroud, my first PC Blend print, and it worked quite well.  The original (ABS I assume) had started to droop.

Before I tore the machine down I printed both the original and the remixed one in PC Blend.

I used the Kores glue stick with a draft shield and it worked quite well.

I may try the PC Blend using the Layerneer Bed Weld to see how it works as a release agent, but I'll probably do a test print on the one partially-damaged PEI side.

Prusament PC Blend

Urban Gray Poiy Carbonate Blend.jpeg

Company:
Prusa is a widely known company for high-quality 3D printing. Although it is not an American company, it is known for its high reliability and top-notch products with near-perfect support. They are located in age Czech Republic.

Products: Prusa is not a one-product wonder. They offer a wide variety of 3D Printers and printing materials that are unequal in quality and have a large variety of colors. This review will be of the PC Blend.

Price: The current price is $49.99. Link: Prusa PC Blend in Urban Grey.

Introduction: To be honest, I am a huge user of Prusament filament so when I saw this new product, I jumped on a purchase ASAP. It is being billed as PC Blend is perfect for stronger, more durable 3D prints. It is reportedly an excellent choice for printing mechanically stressed parts. Compared to other materials, PC Blend is high-temperature resistance. This means that is would be perfect for parts exposed to heat such as fan shrouds on the 3D Printers. It would also be an idea where impact resistance or tensile strength is needed. The following graph is from the Prusa website and gives a good comparison of the properties possessed by the different filaments they sell.

graph_Comparison-Filamants.png

I have only printed it for a weekend. I started off with the generic PC Blend settings on my Prusa MK3S and they never needed adjusting. I did have several failed prints at first because I had to turn in my printer to the new filament. It warped like crazy until I got the right settings on my Z level. So far, I have replaced my parts for my Prusa Mosquito with Urban Grey PC Blend.

Color: It comes in Urban Grey, Galaxy Black, and Natural.

Prusa-Replacement-part.jpeg

Filament quality: The quality is top-notch. This stuff is tough as nails. The part above is printed in PC Urban Grey. I chose this product because I need a tough Pinda Probe attachment. I could not get any bend at 25% infill and the parts I printed at 40%, you can forget it. It is hydration sensitive so, you will want to keep it in a bag. Near 100% uniform diameter.

Ease of use: Once you get it dialed in with a Z value, it prints perfectly. Each roll comes with a glue stick. Never print without a coat fo glue stick. This stuff is very sticky once you Z is dialed in.

Packaging: I love the recyclable and reusable spools. They had a contest early on to encourage users to find another use for their spools. There are a lot of options available on their website.

Print quality: None of the test prints failed once I nailed in the Z level. The surfaces turned out to be smooth and slightly shiny. The grey color came out a little bland, but It allows me to see which parts are the original black or orange vs. PC Blend. The color and print consistency are perfect in my book. I printed about 8-10 small prints with the filament. I had zero jams and 100% print success. Zero quality concerns with the filament or prints it produced.

Approval: I would purchase this product in the future. In fact, I have three new spools on the way! I rate this as 98/100. I would have rated it better if the price was better. It is a premium product at a premium price.

I standby for your questions.

Thanks for the detailed report. I think I will test PC Galaxy black on my Mini.

What are your experiences regarding strength, temperature resistance and dimensional stability with this material?

Does it become brittle or cracked when used in the printer (extruder parts or similar)?

I have one printer that has been printing PC Blend for 3-4 months.  No issues with brittleness.

I printed a rail stop for our rocket launchpad (peg that 10-30kg rockets sit on as motors light.   They are exposed to 1300 Celsius for flashes that last seconds.  It survives.  It is singed but survives.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I have just ordered a roll from Prusa and will test the material extensively. I had little luck with the polymax PC. Unfortunately the printing parts (MK3 extruder) broke apart after a few months.

😕 ☹️ !

You are a destroyer !!! 😉

I still have 1,5 kg of Polymaker PC-Max - is this completely the same material as you used?

@clemens-m

probably it was because I increased the printing speed to warp 4 😋
