... (a Prusa I hope!) is capable of printing PETG, then just use that. PETG is arguably more durable than PLA, so why take the chance that you may have to re-do it in the future? You can always buy the parts directly from Prusa, of course, but shipping costs will be more than the parts themselves.

Unfortunately, I dont have the printer built, in order to print off that new part.

But definitely a good point! I will have to see if I can source the part printing somewhere nearby!

It's an okay idea but not a great one. Some parts are a bit too close to the heatbreak for my taste to use PLA. 

In any case, you want to print the shroud with ABS/ASA or PC Blend. 

There's a reason why printer parts are not printed with PLA: it's because PLA becomes "soft" at temperatures above about 45°C. When I say soft, that doesn't mean that you can model it by squeezing.
Even visually not noticeable, it will deform permanently and so PLA shouldn't be used for printer parts that are expected to keep it's shape (precise dimensions) at working temperatures and under load.
Let's take X-carriage, which is always just above the hot print bed. Here, rods and bearings are inserted very tight into the plastic. If PLA would be used, part would deform just enough for rods and bearings to become a bit loose -and we don't want that! Btw. increasing number of perimeters or infill, changes nothing in this case.

I would contact Prusa support via the chat window in the e-shop.

Let them know what happened and see what options you may have.

So I had a mishap when assembling my MK3s+, and I need a new X Carriage set.

We have another printer here, and I was wondering if its is an okay idea to print the replacement part out of PLA?

I saw on the website recommended is PETG with 20% infill, but I'm wondering if PLA would be just fine?

Describe the mishap and they might even replace the part for free.  I had a piece break during install.  They were very helpful.
