Question about import duties to the USA, on a SECOND purchase in the same tax year.

I recently purchased and assembled a Mk3S+, and ALMOST, but didn't quite, purchase a second spool of filament, when a warning popped up about going over an $800 limit on duty-free purchases.
I did purchase a spool of orange Prusament, shortly later, from a domestic reseller, after realizing that I had overtightened a screw on one of the X-axis components, causing the screw to stick out the back and scratch the yellow warning label, so I could have a replacement ready to go for when that part fails.

I want more parts. Specifically, I already have my eye on the MMU2, and I'm wanting to print a spare of everything, in the "correct" color, also in the "correct" material.

I need someone familiar with US customs and duties to weigh in, please.

Do I need to wait until January 1 to make additional purchases, or can I look at getting the kit before Christmas?
