Prusa Core One - small parts no longer sticking to plate

New user here, I ordered the Prusa Core One last year, recieved this Feb.

printed about one spool of sample PLA.

now I have trouble to get small part sticking to plate.

I clean the plate everytime before printing with 70% IPA.

just wonder how long the plate last? I used up both sides already.

Regards,

James

Hi James,

it's probable that your build plate adhesion issues are due to surface contamination.

for a test, Put your IPA to the back of your printer table, and leave it there for a while...

Take your Build plate to the kitchen sink, and wash it well, with dish soap, and HOT water, using something like a NEW Dish Sponge (One which has never seen grease or other contaminents) then rinse well with HOT water and wipe dry immediately with plain paper towels, then return to your printer, holding the build plate by the edges and try printing with it, immediately.
for this test, DO NOT  wipe with IPA  (It hasn't helped in the past, and it probably wont help now, either... )

regards Joan

Just to be clear, Joan is not suggesting to never use IPA. Wiping down the sheet with IP between prints is a Good Thing. I would suggest 90+% instead of 70% though, But after a while a trip to the sink and a good rinse with soap and hot water as suggested by Joan may be required. I have sheets that are a year old and more and that still work fine. After a while I tend to get "shadows" of previous prints that even soap can't remove, so I begin to pay more attention to what I print on what side.

Both of you are correct.

I washed the plate with dish soap and dry it with paper towel.

Now I can print the same small parts without any issue.

I wear gloves to pick the part and handle the plate, avoiding leaving finger print on the surface of plate.

second print seems working too.

many thanks!

James
