RE: Prusa Badges and Rewards... What you want to know!

Badges and Prusameter points are basically participation rewards.  Engaging with the community by sharing designs and makes earn you credits toward filament and boost your reputation score.

If you can't find or create 10 prints in a month, your reputation (badge) score will reflect that.  There ARE people in the community that DO participate at a high level.  Those people often give constructive feedback and I assure you their comments carry more weight when you see a high number (20+) next to their name.

I don't want to be someone's guinea pig and print a model they haven't taken the time to print themselves.  If the preview pic is a rendering and not a Make, I usually move on.  The only exception is if it's designed by a trusted designer.  Before, that was limited to people I follow.  Now, their badge score is the first thing I look at.

RE: Prusa Badges and Rewards... What you want to know!

Is it correct that you can get the points for new prints only once and - in contrast to makes - not per month?

not got fully to grips with it yet, put a few on to see whats what, not interested in rewards myself, just happy to share, any designs of interest.

big snag is that anyone interested in a design/make, will already have downloaded from thingiverse, so rewards will be few, i am sure they (prusa) will be aware of that, rewards will be few??? lets wait to see how it pans out

My understanding is that each time you post a print you get 10 points, up to 10 times per month. I'm okay with that even though I think posting a print should be a higher reward than posting a make (e.g., 20 points). On the other hand, if your prints get downloaded a lot and rake up likes, you earn a nice "income" from it

I agree. Original designs and posts should be worth more points. On posting makes, the original post/designer should get credited too

Will prusaprints support Animated Gifs in the future?  I loose the work I do in creating them when they upload.    I post GIF's which contain instructional steps or examples of motion.

@matt-boyer I'm technically inclined and usually preface my prints with the technical design, but always provide a real world example of my upload. I don't think I'm unique in any way, so I'm guessing you're missing out if you're not looking beyond the preview.

As was explained to me earlier, you get rewarded for a total of 10 prints. No monthly reset. It’s nice to want to reward the effort that goed into making a design but it also reward spammers that uploads designs made with minimum effort.

But if you draw beautiful and useful things and especially printable things you will see that whoever buys prusa and prusament will also be tempted to print those things.

I was able to publish a print of my object as if it had been printed by others, fortunately I did not receive the 10 points but I received the badge for the first make

If it's a design I like, I'll open the summary and look for real print pictures.  The design gets judged on it's merits from there, but when I'm just browsing Prints and I see the standard Thingiverse render posted by <15, 9 out of 10 times I'll pass.  The exception is usually some sculpture model that I wouldn't be able to design myself.

RE: Prusa Badges and Rewards... What you want to know!

I think most reward systems will likely see a spike of low effort attempts to meet the rewards in the beginning of the program. It's human nature. I think you may also get a bit of a double whammy with this one based on timing as there are likely a lot of people like me, who got their first printer within the last couple of weeks. That said, looking at the reward requirements, I do think you will see a lot of the chaff sorted out soon enough. Especially with a limit of 10 prints, its going to quickly cause people to run out of steam.

Ultimately though, even the makes are likely to get run down a bit eventually as people soon realize that it costs them more in filament to keep doing their makes and time in uploading, printing, etc. than is worth it for the free filament you can eventually get. Even more so for those who have a particular interest in what they want to print. In my case, I am primarily going to be using the printer for making stuff for my gaming hobbies. I have only one printer so once I get it to where I'm comfortable, I'm not going to be wanting to spend precious print time and filament on random items just to get my 10 makes for the month.

Obviously I can't say what the site used to be like as I wasn't around. I will admit that I was pleasantly surprised when I logged on and saw that there was a reward system that included free filament. However, I also know that the odds of me uploading a print any time soon are extremely minimal because, quite frankly, I'm just not that educated in design and don't really have a desire to spend my time learning it. Now if I understand it correctly, the real incentive for uploading quality prints is that you can get rewarded for downloads every month. So the better your print the more likely it is to have staying power. I also think that eventually the better creators will start to rise to the top and even, just the name recognition will help. I already know some people like Diem have answered my very beginner questions both promptly and excellently. That type of reception would make me far more likely to look for, and download, one of Diem's models than a similar model from a random person.

In short, hopefully it will work out well in the long run and a lot of the chaff will get tossed out to sea so to speak.

RE:

I'm still trying to figure out the subtleties of Da-Rules with regards to scoring Prusameters for my uploaded models.

  • I understand I only get Prusameters for the first 10 models I upload & that this is a 1-time event. After I upload 10, there is no more score just for adding more models - ever. It appears that models I've uploaded in the past do not count, because I've received no points for them. Correct?
  • Once those models are uploaded, they can gain additional Prusameters if people download & like them. But I need to get at least 30 downloads & 3 likes to get any Prusameters.
  • Is that per-model, or for all 10 uploaded models in total? If, for some  30-day period, all 10 of my uploaded models were to get 29 downloads & 3 likes, I still get nothing?
  • Are my previous models, that did not count toward my 10 lifetime one-time uploads, eligible to collect Prusameters based on downloads & likes?
  • Are future models that I upload in excess of my 10 lifetime one-time upload eligible to collect Prusameters based on downloads & likes?
  • Or, are all of my models' downloads & likes counted together every 30 days? For example, if I have uploaded 200 models over my lifetime & each of them get's 2 uploads & 10% of them are liked at least once, would I get 200 Prusameters for that period?

Whatever you find to do with your hands, do with all your might!

couldn't have said it better my self. although the spam currently is kinda annoying, i think it will probably weed itself out once the initial hype has blown over and mods and the devs get some countermeasures up. the potential of 200 prusameters a month is really generous as is so i dont see no reason to cheat or to gain the system. you basically will get a free spool of filament every 3 months or so if you just upload around 10 makes a month.

You mean 'make' right? I uploaded 2 on the 4th and got my meters.

I suspected that these people had downloaded your design of of thingiverse and decided to post their makes here. But it seems that you didn't upload your design to thingiverse. So it seems that the download counter is indeed not accurate.

You however did upload a make and put it under your own print. This feels unneseccarry as you can just upload photo's of your prints to the main page of your design.

May I ask: did you get prusameters for both the print as the make? If so, this does seem to be a loophole for getting more prusameters.
