Problems with supply of printers, very slow delivery

I have been waiting for a printer to be supplied to me after ordering in November 2021, the latest date I have been given for delivery is February 2022. Is this normal for Prusa as the original delivery date quoted at time of ordering was 4-6 weeks. Should I cancel?

Thanks

What does it say on the orders page of your Eshop account?

It says within a week from 10th Jan but when I emailed to confirm a delivery date I am told February 2022, I was told in early Dec it would be delivered in early Jan,  just feel I am being given the run around and wondered if others are having the same issues, payment was taken immediately on ordering which is also worrying me.

I'm sure you needn't worry about your money.  Prusa remain solid afaIct but the whole world is having delivery problems atm as the O variant of COVID is messing with the supply chains 🙁   The orders page, it seems, does still predict despatch within the first half of January, a deadline that has not yet been missed ...

I appreciate the issues but two deadlines have already been offered and then missed, I have little confidence that this one will be hit given that Prusa have already stated February in an email. I was hoping for some reassurance that other customers had actually received their orders.

I wouldn't worry about your money. Prusa isn't a fly-by-night outfit that's going to disappear. The long shipping delay is frustrating for sure, but I'll bet it's as frustrating for them too. I suspect the shortages--particularly ICs--is likely affecting their supply chain.

I ordered my MK3S+ on Nov 27, it shipped Dec 15, and arrived on Dec 28 (sat in France and Belgium for a long time). I did notice that the lead time on new orders increased quite a bit by the next day after I placed mine, so I assume they got a lot of orders around that time. One of the (BF/CM) free gifts (satin sheet) still hasn't shipped yet: I got an email back in mid December saying it was delayed due issues with their supplier. Expected to ship "probably early January 2022".

Thanks Jim, my order was for the Mini+ kit, it was ordered on 11th Nov so not sure what the issue is as Prusa don't have to assemble it! I wish they would be a bit more candid about the reasons for the delay as your order was later than mine and has already arrived albeit for a different printer.

RE: Problems with supply of printers, very slow delivery

I've bough original Mini in spring last year (at that time we have already been in "covid" for more than a year) and it was shipped within a month -as promised.
Shortly after that, I started noticing in this forum, that delays started to prolong. That is, Prusa doesn't keep the promised shipment time - and we aren't talking about few days. At that time, being happy with Mini, I became interested on MK3S. Because I wasn't into playing shipment lottery with Prusa, I decided for MK3S BEAR from AliExpress. It arrived in less than three weeks and I saved enough money to make a decent upgrade -needless to say I'm very happy with my decision.

Why am I writing this? Because when talking about hobby 3D printers (no nuclear science in that), I don't believe in "covid excuses". It's all about competency. Necessary parts are available (on open market) and Prusa should know the demand, to make stock on time and cover the supply accordingly.

Some will say, "if that would be true, then Prusa would be more than happy to make money...". If course it would, every store wish for that. But if few incompetent people are in the chain, then it simply can't happen. Incompetent people are famous for inventing excuses why something can't be done. I've been in marketing for many years and I've heard them all.
At the end, all above doesn't really matter. It's always up to the consumer where to buy and how much to pay.

Just sharing my thoughts...

Sourcing Parts at this time is a nightmare, on all fronts not just electronics. Try to get an aluminum extrusion, or custom magnets right now, good luck. everything, lumber, food, clothing you name it. The problem is bigger then Covid, and (I think) not caused by Covid alone, several systems of supply have failed. things will slowly return to what you were used to, or some semblance of what you used to expect.

If I was to be light hearted about it, I would tell you Prusa has a reputation for being late, but they also have a reputation for making good stuff.

It might be worth the wait.

ScotsHamlet, many thanks for the information that is extremely helpful and have just located that link (which is not easy to find!) which is pasted below:

https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/shipping-information_2297

It would be helpful if the Prusa customer service staff pointed people to this link as it appears to much more realistic than the delivery dates they have been offering and then missing in email correspondence.
