Problem with filament flow directly after color change

Hello everyone,

I'm experimenting with color change / mid-print filament change at the moment (Prusa Core One). The printer requests the filament change, and I change it. After the purge I remove the residual filament from the nozzle, and then press yes to the question if the purge is okay and that continues the print. On its way to the print, filament already flows out of the nozzle, which then has the risk of destroying the print in some way.

How is this supposed to work?

That extra purge when the printhead is returning to the print is normal for Prusa printers (since the MK3 in my experience, maybe earlier). AFAIK it is a pressure prime. What I (and many others) do is I don't remove the color change purge right away, rather I use it as a handle to hold onto the pressure prime extrusion. Then when the nozzle starts to lower towards the print I yank it all off.

Hm, I guess that means the "stop on door open" feature is then basically incompatible with changing filament mid print.

In any case, thanks for your answer!

There is thread on manual colour swapping with MK4/s. With that, you print typical purge tower, which takes care of all the problems with the filament swap.

I see no reason, why it shouldn't work with Core One.
