Printing with ASA or ABS
My Sovol and I have been happily printing Prusament PETG for a few months, I started to get an issue with what I assume is a partial blockage (whole or part of a layer will be empty and the finished part breaks easily along the visible void). In the short term I tried reducing speed (a lot) and that seemed to work for a while. Eventually I bit the bullet and replaced the nozzle and that seemed to resolve the problem for PETG.
Unfortunately when I tried PrusamentASA and Prusa ABS the blocked nozzle symptoms came back with a vengeance. The first layer when down (eventually) nicely but after layer 10ish it would stop extruding plastic for a layer or so then continue. I created a deal slow profile (50%) but that didn't seem to help.
My printer has what appears to be an E3D V6 clone, temperature is firmware limited to 260C. It came stock with a 0.4 nozzle. I have no reliable way to check that the nozzle is actually at the temperature it is reporting. I'm using the Prusa filament temperature settings - PETG 240/85 and 250/90 ASA 260/105 and 260/110 ABS 260/100 and 260/110.
My current flail in the dark guess is that nozzle temp is too low.
Is it unreasonable to assume that a larger nozzle would be less likely to clog?
Any advise would be welcome. I can take pictures if that will help.
RE: Printing with ASA or ABS
Try removing the extruder gear and pushing the filament directly by hand.
If the filament is fed lightly, I think the nozzle temperature is correct.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion but it appears I have not resolved my cloging problem even for PETG, so it looks like apperent problems with ASA and ABS is just a symptom of my overall problem. Soon as I can I'll post some pics.
Does anybody know if a 0.6m nozzle would be less likely to clog?

Hello, towlerg
Are all nozzle throats metal? Or does it contain a PTFE tube?
PTFE is not suitable for use above 240 °. It softens and clogs the nozzle.
We recommend upgrading to eliminate problems around the nozzle.
I used Volcano to reduce troubles around the nozzle.

Hi, I have the stock Sovol hotend which is a E3D V6 clone. In common with a real V6 there is a short piece of PTFE tube which acts a a guide between the top (the cool end) of the heatbreak and the extruder gears.

Hello.

It comes out from 3:57 in the above video
It refers to the PTFE inside the nozzle throat.

The video you linked to is for an Artillery X1 which appears to have a V6 Lite clone hotend.
