Printing PLA and change to FLEX

Hello,
is it possible to start printing with PLA filament, and then (for example in 10. layer) change filament to TPU?

Thank you

Should not be an issue. Pre-set a filament change in Prusa Slicer and then change the filament when the printer asks you to. https://help.prusa3d.com/article/color-change_1687

You´ll just have to dial in the new temperature manually then to correspond to the new filament´s requirements and to hope that TPU properly sticks to PLA.

Cheers

I try to give answers to the best of my ability, but I am not a 3D printing pro by any means, and anything you do you do at your own risk. BTW: I have no food for…

Thank you @justme3d

I think about set up two extruders and enable "Single extruder multi material" - then I should be able to set different filament profiles for each extruder.

But my question is more about the materials. How strong will be connection between PLA and TPU?

Not great between PLA and TPU/TPE, you will do better using PETG, ABS, ASA, or PC with TPU/TPE. <--(that's not an all inclusive list) and of course it depends on the qualities of the products your using.

PETG is the next easiest to print and bonds reasonably with TPU/TPE

Thank you @swiss_cheese.

I will try both and then will make a decision.

i wish i just had to dial the new temperature manually like you said. Then to match the requirements of the new filament and pray that the TPU is suitable for PLA. It's really bad luck, isn't it?

This model uses TPU as a hinge. I was worried about TPU Temperature differences, and in the end, it was the white PLA which gave problems

the white was an unknown brand, and I eventually printed it at 170C to prevent strings

the Black, was a no name TPU.
