Printed Solid
I was pleased to see Prusa acquiring Printed Solid for distribution of Prusa machines, parts, and supplies. I was hoping that we could get faster service at lower prices here in the United States.
Looks like it didn't work out that way.
I want to buy some Prusament. With 3 day shipping, the cost to buy a roll from Prusa is $49.76 USD compared to buying it from Printed Solid for $66.88USD. With cheapest shipping, buying from Prusa costs $49.76 USD with 3 day shipping compared to $52.38 USD from Printed Solid with 7 day shipping.
I don't understand how Printed Solid can be more expensive and slower than buying and shipping all the way from central Europe.
When Printed Solid CEO David Randolph asks why he isn't selling much, this is why.

No, Printed Solid is staffed by knuckleheads. Shocked that Prusa purchased them.
My few Printed Solid purchases all ended up in returns.

Sorry you've had problems. I've had nothing but good experiences with Printed Solid.
Right now I wouldn't buy Prusament from them since it's more expensive. They are working on setting up manufacturing lines here in the US for Prusament from my understanding. They already make Jessie themselves, and from what I've read it's mainly changing the QC setup to follow Prusa's specs.

No. And their prices are awful. Just had a need for Fillamentum Timberfill, Printed Solid was $10 more per spool, plus less in stock than Matterhackers.
Like the OP noted, it is usually cheaper to by Prusa stuff direct from Prusa.
Stupid.
Maybe Prusa bought them $1. Hopefully, Prusa can straighten them out. Hopefully soon...

Hi Mark, here's my 4 cents.
That product still has to be shipped from Prague to the US, only instead of shipping it to you directly now it's being shipped and stored by a Middleman "Printed Solid" (owned by Prusa or not) and that middleman has to make money on the product, plus pay "Again" to ship that product to you, storage cost money, employees to Pull & Package the product costs money, and shipping "Again" costs money, yes even if it says "free shipping" your still paying for it. Even if they shipped the filament at a bulk rate from Prague it's going to cost more because of the middleman. why would you expect it to be cheaper? I'm fairly sure the idea was that prusament and spare parts are just faster to get in the US, all the associated costs are still there. Plus+ you might also think that, if they were acquired that the company that did the acquiring is wanting to see some return on their investment?

That would be true if PrintedSolid were indeed a middleman; but they are not, they are part of Prusa now. So if Prusa indeed purchased them and intends them to succeed as their branch overseas then Prusa (not PrintedSolid) would absorb the extra cost (which would be minimal by the way) from their markup. That is standard business when you have a business acquiring a smaller one to use as a branch. Otherwise, there would be zero incentive to use the branch which is closer to your time zone. Prusa are not novices at this, so either they haven't paid close attention and the PS guys are indeed knuckleheads, they are still working out the logistics, or (highly unlikely) they just bought out a competitor to get them out from competing.
