printables rating system issue

Not sure if this forum is the right place, but i got recently an issue with the printables.com rating system. From time to time i'm not able to rate a model / make with the star system. The stars just don't appear. I can only write a review and post pictures from a make but not rate.

Try to post and rate the great adalinda and the stars for rating (a clear 5) are not there.

Chrome on manjaro.

I know this is going to sound like a silly question, but I didn't see mention of it. In order to rate a model / design, you need to download it first. Did you download it and still can not apply your rating to the model?

Thank you! That was the point. You need to download it while logged in to get the stars to rate the model. That's really silly because one who uploaded a make of a model should always be able to rate the model.

It downloaded it again and voila when clicking edit i could give the 5 stars to the model.

cheers!

There should be a reminder hint as to why the stars are not there, I always forget about that silly thing...

More easy would be to allow one who uploads a make to rate. Accepting a make and not granting to rate makes really no sence.

Look at the cube i printed today:

This is still broken.. It used to work for me.. I download several models and now never get the rating star option to appear.. Here is the latest.  Using Safari & MacOS. Sometimes by making this stuff too complicated, it breaks too easily.

This is happening to me too. In fact I opened a topic about it a few days ago: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/english-forum-general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/printables-why-rating-stars-are-not-showing-when-publishing-a-make/

And I'm pretty sure I was logged in when downloading the models. If I try downloading them again I still don't get the rating when editing the model I posted.

The solution is very easy. To be able to rate stars you need to download as a logged in user.

And than to rate you need also be a logged in user.

That protects the rating system a little bit against vandalism.

The login is everywhere the same, all prusa sites use the same login.

In my case, I was logged in when I downloaded the designs (I always am). And the stars don't show when I publish a make.

You obviously did not look closely at my post (or read it at all) .. I *did download* as a logged in user.. and you can see from the image in my post is no STAR rating there available.  So.. download as logged in user.. and this must be true because I get credit for the download in Prusaments.. But when I publish a make *NO* stars.. repeat.. *NO STAR RATING AVAILABLE*...

Searching around in the forums I saw more people complaining about this issue. For example, here: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/english-forum-general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/star-ratings-not-possible-on-makes/

They recommend to disable any ad-blocker plugin you may have on your browser. I did that on mine but it didn't make a difference.

I'm having the same issue today. I downloaded the file while logged in, printed it out, and added a "Make and review", but didn't have any option to include a rating there. Not sure what's blocking it, as I'm using Chrome without any ad blockers or other plug-ins. I'd love to rate some of the great stuff on the site, but just can't.

I get the same problem. No star ratings showing up, even as I was logged in.

I sent a problem notice on their web site, but no reply.. I’m pretty tech savvy.. but have no idea why I occasionally get the rating system.. but now never get it. Could be tied to an update.. but a problem on both FireFox & Safari. Too bad for those designers who have few makes but makers can’t add a rating to boost their profile.

RE: printables rating system issue

I had the same problem, meaning the file had been downloaded (nearly certain I was logged in) and when I added the make it wouldn't allow me to rate the model.

Here is what I've done to solve this:

  1. logged-in
  2. reloaded the page of the model (to be sure the page sees me as logged-in, with my profile picture in the top right)
  3. download again the file (not sure if you need to download them all or one is enough)
  4. reload the page again

TA-DA you can now rate the model. I think this has to do with the part of the form used to rate the model only loading when you load the page while being connected and having the model downloaded.

This stumped me for a while today. Thanks for the info here: downloading again, refreshing, sometimes downloading AGAIN, and then the star ratings show up.

RE: printables rating system issue

oooooh. I downloaded some of my models from Thingiverse but wanted to do a make on printables for the prusameter points and it wouldn't show me the stars. That explains it.

Same issue - coudn't see the stars.  That was on chrome.  Opened the same page in Firefox, and stars were there...  It's definitely an issue with the html of the page.
