Please allow upload of SolidWorks assembly (.SLDASM) files to PrusaPrinters

Hi.
I don't know where to report this.

I can upload SolidWorks Part files (.SLDPRT) without issues. But PrusaPrinters doesn't allow the upload of SolidWorks assemblies (.SLDASM) files.

I wanted to include my SolidWorks files for people to easily edit if needed. But the Assembly is crucial as some of the relationships between parts are created there.

I know that forum is for users. But I don't know where to request this feature.

I also find the options somewhat limited.
One possible solution:
In this case I publish my CAD part data either on grabcad (grabcad.com) or on my own website and link to it from PrusaPrints.

@karl-herbert Thanks for suggestion. I uploaded files to GrabCad and linked it in PrusaPrinters.
But I still think that Prusa should allow uploading of .SLDASM files (they already allow .SLDPRT files).

👍

I hope Prusa will read this and change something about it.

By the way - which project are you talking about?

Thanks!

Amusing. When I click on the link I got sometimes this top secret site:

How are you able upload Solidworks files. I just get the usual stl, obj, amf ones.

Solidworks files are of course especially interesting for people who work with Solidworks. This gives them full access to the source data and makes it easier to make changes.
I work with Solidworks and Autodesk Inventor and of course prefer such source data to STL and STEP files.

I use Solidworks and would be very interested in how you are able to upload SDLPRT files directly to the Prusa Slicer.

@airsyspro

I'm not using SLDPRT in PrusaSlicer. I just uploaded it to PrusaPrinters so people can have a CAD file to work with if needed.

@airsyspro

Solidworks source data is advantageous for easy modification of CAD data, if you have Solidworks. For subsequent printing, you must of course generate an STL file (with Solidworks), which you can then use for the slicer.
