My entire Media Library and old post images and file attachments have been restored.

I was cleaning up my subscription just now and was checking one of my old topics from 2020 where all the images and attachments had been deleted and even the images in Media Library were deleted.

To my surprise, everything, the file attachments had been "un-deleted" and the images deleted from the Media Library had been restored. So I quickly did a Printedit and saved the entire topic in a format, with images, that makes sense. In case the restoration was a glitch they disappear again.

I checked and found other topics that had the images restored as well. Check your old Topic/posts.

WHAT IS GOING ON?

Maybe the forum demons are playing games on one of us. Check out this topic from 2020: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/prusaslicer-2-1-0-sequential-vase-mode-printing-of-tall-objects/ and tell me if I am seeing things.

Things where removed from September 2021 back, seems to be the same on the link you posted. I know it is on all mine, the stuff from October 2021 forward is still there.

? The files from my post on 21/04/2020 are still there:

and 2-colour-seq-vase-mode.jpg

as well as embedded image

  from 25/06/2020

They were not there when I last checked. But one attachment is still missing. I was so excited I missed that one 😪 prusaprinters.org is driving me crazy. Media Library has images from 02/2020. What about you?

My images where left, only the project files where removed, however they were the point of the post.

I don't know if you were active when this happened but it was all discussed at the time in several posts, as I was contacted by users telling me they couldn't get the files pertaining to the lesson.

I was cleaning up my subscription just now and was checking one of my old topics from 2020 where all the images and attachments had been deleted and even the images in Media Library were deleted.

I learned this lesson many years back with other online platforms. If you are putting work into developing content, do yourself a favor and host your own site. The benefit of some of the best content here (e.g., the "Life Adjust" thread) was already diminished by the migration to the new forum software and inability to maintain older posts. Now it's been further neutered by removing valuable attachments along with no way for the original posters to go back and let everybody know what's going on. The result has been a lot of confusing and incomplete posts that make those who invested time & effort into them look like gibbering idiots. As the new-old saying goes: "If a product or service is free, you are the product." The first purpose of any forum like this is to market the company paying the bills.

Post summaries here, but invest all your time and effort into your site that you control. That will insulate you from forum software upgrades (Prusa), platform obsolescence (Google+), and arbitrary administrator decisions (Prusa). It also makes dealing with things like the ridiculously short edit window much easier.

While I'm annoyed at some of the "institutional knowledge" lost as a whole by recent Prusa forum actions, at least my investment in time and effort hasn't been lost. Interestingly enough, traffic at my site has increased considerably with these changes. I used to see 2 or 3 people on at a time, now 4 to 5 is the norm.

Deflated expectations

@swiss_cheese

Yes I was. I even brought it to attention of forum Admin, to no effect. This time I thought Prusa had a change of heart. Until you pointed out there was still one file missing from my early post, which was key and summary to my topic. I wish people would stop designing web sites with young children with perfect vision in mind. I cannot see light grey text on a light background,

Posts treated like garbage

@bobstro

I joined this forum while it was in transition from whatever it was before, and people were complaining about lost posts.

Since I was here to gather information to help build my kit, I honestly didn't think it was such a big deal that some posts were missing. So someone lost a post! It only affected them, not me! I could not have been more wrong! It didn't just affect the poster, but all the people that were coming here to try and find an answer. Maybe there was a post that was lost that could have prevented me breaking a part during my build.

You have been through it a few times and fortunately you have figured out a solution. Good for you!

Now that I have had it happen to one of my posts where I spent WEEKS figuring out how to do something Prusa said could not be  done in PrusaSlice, documenting it, and ending with a PoC project file only to have my work thrown out like so much garbage, I am MAD AS HELL. I have been investigating my own site since the files first got deleted.
