Mk4 Shipping Issue - Fedex is after me with collections agency?
This is in reference to a Prusa shipment to US.
Back in June my fully assembled Mk4 was delayed by Fedex ("Operational Delay") but I eventually received it 😊 .
A bit later Fedex sent me a weird bill for $52 referencing the Prusa shipment. I had already paid Prusa and received my package so thought nothing of this and tossed it out. Why would a shipping company ever need to charge anyone post-hoc? They control the goods and should just not deliver if not paid (this is how I assumed shipping worked). Now I have a collections agency after me on behalf of Fed-ex for this money! What in the world is this? Fed-ex has really slipped from a previous place of excellence, but this is a new low. I have received many international shipments and have never seen anything like this. Has anyone else had a similar type of fee after receiving a shipment from Prusa? Other than the "operational" shipping delay, there was nothing else unusual of note with this delivery.

If paid more than $800 for your order, it will incur import duties coming into the US. Fedex as the transport agent will collect it on the IRS's behalf. Nothing sinister about it. Based it online reports it seems sometimes they collect the dues upfront before delivery, in your case—and every time I hit the $800 limit—they delivered first and collected later.

Like Fuchsr said, those are import fees, which might be collected also post shipment. I'd pay as soon as possible, it only gets more expensive from here and you may end up on some black lists for not paying legit invoices.

Hadn't seen that. Thank you. That's quite the post. Odd that answers are all over the place and that some people don't seem to get the charge. Would be nice I suppose if Prusa gave a warning about this during order process. I still think it's nutty that the shippers don't request this pre-delivery.
