Looking for UMO Upgrade

I've been an Ultimaker user since the early days and I've enjoyed the many mods I've made to the machine over the years, largely thanks to open source.

I keep reading and hearing (YouTube) about how the MK4 is open source but, unlike the i3, I cannot find any source code or design files for the MK4 and I've read about its proprietary load sensor too.

So what's the story? If the MK4 is open source, can someone here please provides links to the hardware and firmware source?

Thanks!

RE:

Some of what you are looking for including the firmware & software can be found on the Official GitHub here: https://github.com/prusa3d

The 3D Printed parts are on Printables.com here: https://www.printables.com/model/451501-mk4mk39-printable-parts

Other parts will be made available as and when possible...

You may want to read this as well: https://blog.prusa3d.com/the-state-of-open-source-in-3d-printing-in-2023_76659/

Especially this paragraph:

Right now, with the release of MK4, we will make available models of all plastic parts and firmware sources (they are already out since the release of the first XL firmware). However, due to the current state of the electronic components market and also the issues outlined above, we will not rush to release the electronics plans just yet. We would like to release them already under the new license.

Thank you for your prompt reply, 3delight. I read the blog post.

" More and more companies are breaking and bending the rules, and the community is not nearly as resistant to their actions as it once was."

Well...I'm still resistant so I'm seriously considering becoming a Prusa3D customer!

and

"In addition, there’s the new MMU3, with completely rewritten firmware and tons of improvements."

I searched for the MMU3 firmware but I only found the MMU2 firmware in Prusa-Firmware-Buddy and Prusa-Firmware. It seems like MMU3 firmware should be in those two git repositories because the MMU3 can be used with either the MK4 or the MK3S.

Thanks again and best regards,

Cal

You must have missed it, it is here: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-MMU

There is only one version of the MMU3 firmware as the differences in how the MK3S+ and MK4 interact with it are handled by the printers firmware not the MMUs.
