Join in Prusament Spool, Noob question

Hi all

I'm still very new to all this & have spent a while tonight fault finding a filament loading error, just to find this partially jamming up the tubes before the MMU. Are joins like this normal or have I just got unlucky? (I hope the photo has attached!)

I've tried searching but there's nothing I can find that is Prusament specific. Sorry if this is an obvious question, still on a very steep learning curve.

Those are not joins. When there is a filament (un)loading error the filament is basically stuck in place while the MMU gears are still turning which grinds down the filament at the gears until it looks like your picture. You'll have a much better time if you cut those 'bites' from your filament (yes its quite wasteful) if you ever see it because it can/will cause more feed issues afterwards.

 

 

Seems Prusa never addressed how aggressivly their MMU firmware grinds into filament on feed errors; TZB was much less aggressive.

Thank you for the reply, that would make much more sense.

I was fairly certain the bump hadn't reached the MMU, but there was a "filament stuck" error which would explain the MMU doing this to the stuck length of filament before finally withdrawing it.  

Hopefully I still have the bad length at home in the bin & I can look if the filament that came before the bump is long enough to reach the extruder.
