Hello I am new to 3d printing and have been, watching a lot of YouTube videos,I have recently placed order for mini plus kit, which I,find very interesting to build and learn at the same time as I amin later years of life, will keep my brain active.

what I would like to ask is this worth upgrading to the bond tech extruder,I was thinking about the weight. Has anyone had any issues with this. Is it worth the investment

thank you.

RE:

Welcome to the Prusa world! I think you'll be happy with your Minis. In my mixed farms of Minis, Mk4s, Mk3S, and one XL, they have been super reliable workhorses.

The only upgrade I truly recommend is the Bondtech extruder or its Trianglelab clone. Before that I had to constantly adjust the idler screw. After upgrading my printers I haven't had to make any adjustments and haven't had any clogs other then self inflicted ones (running low temp filaments after high temp filaments without cleaning the hotend), in three years or so.

So yes, go for the upgrade.

Edit: BTW, even with the Bondtech, Input Shapping on my Minis gives me much better results than IS on my Mk4s

RE:

I never had a mini but my first prusa was an mk3. I highly too recommend the bondtech since on my mk3 it was a headache printing petg  with .25 nozzles in hot summer days. Due to the heat creep it would frequent clock when printing with this size of nozzles since the filament would go a bit soft and at some point the gears would "eat" away a portion thus turning without pushing any filmnt through. Also it was easier to adjust the idler screw whenever and if it was needed.

In my case it was purchased from here https://www.bondtech.se/product-category/upgrade-kits/prusa/.

The only thing you have to keep in mind is that you have to download the firmware updates from their website (at least that was the  case with mine) and not prusas.

@fuchsr which one precisely? what about direct drive?
Or maybe could you make a new thread in Prusa Mini in hardware section which would describe your setup of the Mini?

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

Never looked at it. Never saw the need for it myself. The main advantage I see is printing TPU, for which I have other printers.

I just did. See https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/postid/695260/

RE: Bond tech

Hello sir,

thank you for your reply,I have mast had a issue with my mini which I purchased used,

extruder clicking so I dismantled cleaned the gears, as instructed on Prusa site, which is very easy to follow, also unblocked the nozzle with needle, reassembled everything .

Same problem now am thinking if to purchase new extruder gears nozzle hopefully this will solve the problem if not just bite the bullet and get Bondtech but am not sure how you enter the g code as I understand you have to change these.

as I live in the Uk I will encare import charges I believe

thank you for your time.
