How to determine which Prusa Printer I have?

I purchased a used i3 of some flavor from a guy on FB marketplace.  I thought it was an I3 Mk3 s+ or whatever the current one was before the 4, on par with the new kit I purchased a few years ago.  While talking to the guy I bought it from, it turns out that he upgraded it several times along the way to effectively get to the 3s+, and it might have started as a 2 or 2.5

How do I determine which one it was for the purposes of a firmware update?

Is there a page going over the differences in 2.5, 3, 3+, 3s+?

I haven't internalized the model numbers of the Prusa printers, so I probably screwed up the model numbers, but I'm talking about the original FDM ones, not resin ones.

RE: How to determine which Prusa Printer I have?

mk2 and mk2.5 had 12volt power supplies and the base frame was made from threaded rod studding (all thread)

the mk3 series all had aluminium extrusion base frame and a 24 volt power supply.

the early mk3 series had a silver power supply, later mk3 S and mk3S+ had Black (Delta) power supplies

the Mk3 had two filament tension screws with springs holding the Bondtech idler door against the filament and it had a vertical 4 wire laser filament sensor
the Mk3S had a different extruder setup with a horizontal three wire infra red filament sensor (Mostly black PCB for the filament sensor) and a 4 wire Pinda Sensor and a single tension screw with spring for the bondtech idler the mk3S also had U Bolts holding the Y axis bearings in place

The Mk3S+ introduced a red PCB Infrared filament sensor that was horizontal, the SupaPinda now had three wires, the Y axis bearings were held in place by sheet metal bridge clamps and the Y Axis rods were held in place by printed clamps instead of cable ties and a black power supply

If you look at the bottom option on the LCD Menu, it should tell you which firmware it currently has loaded

You can turn on the printer, press the button ==> got to menu "Support", select it and then scroll down. You then should find an info about your printer version and the version of the board of the printer. It was not possible to use a board from the MK2x series for MK3x series because of the change from 12V to 24V.

Best regards, Clemens
