We could print shields with the Ukrainian flag and the text "Refugees welcome" or "Слава Україні!" and share them with our friends and families. Unfortunately we do not have an appropriate blue PETG Prusament in the shop.

It's a nice sentiment, but to be honest: I'm sure there are items the Ukrainians would much rather be getting. I'd hate to clog the supply lines with ultimately useless 3D printed stuff. Back when the COVID PPE printing push was on, a lot of groups were getting incomplete or useless 3D printed stuff. The local fire department received stacks of frames, but no transparent shield of any sort and had no idea what to do with them.

If we assume that sometime fairly soon the country will move into an insurgency phase, then there are perhaps ways in which we as a worldwide community could help in some small way.   However the main challenge is likely to be logistics, establishing lines of communication and delivery rather than the objects themselves.  As an example,  a simulated top section of the TM62M anti-tank mine is easy to make and might be more effective than placing dinnerplates in the road as has been recently reported.  Can provide more info if anyone interested.

I would say this proposal is interesting, but the mine is too big for the most printers. My idea would be the green parrot mine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PFM-1

It was produced in large amounts in Russia and the USSR.

I guess it would be easy to print and the following measures would work with the most printers:

  • Length: 120 mm (4.7 in)
  • Width: 20 mm (0.79 in)
  • Height: 61 mm (2.4 in)

Unfortunately I am a noob in constructing things. Otherwise I would start to create the stl file for a first prototype.

Re: dimensions.   Attempting to transport full size replica munitions might be somewhat problematic!   The relevant Government at the point of shipment might have something to say on the matter.

Here's a link to  a storage cap which bears a passing resemblance to the upper part only.   The dimensions are 136 dia x 40.  which should fit any printer.

3D Point has just announced that the collection of the tourniquet parts is stopped so far. They will collect the already printed ones but the recommend not to print them further.
