How long will MK3/S/+ -> MK4 upgrade kits be available?

I got the email from Josef RE that Prusa is stopping the manufacture of MK3S+ kits/assembled units at the end of February 2024.  Understood, no ambiguity. But continuing availability for the MK3S+->MK4 upgrade kits is vague.

The portion regarding upgrade kits is a little confusing and I need some official clarification.  "The same goes for our upgrade kits." is the part of the email that can be read different ways: either "upgrade kits to MK4 WILL ALSO BE DISCONTINUED at the same time as MK3S+ kits/assembled units, end of Feb 2024" or "we will continue to support MK3S+, AS WELL AS CONTINUE TO PROVIDE UPGRADE KITS MK3S+-> MK4"

So, can someone officially clarify how long I can expect Upgrade Kits for MK3/S/+ -> MK4 to be available? End of February 2024? 3-6 months? 6-12 months? Indefinitely while MK4 is still in production?

Thanks!

This is a forum mostly of users helping other users. I don't think anybody here has any insight to Prusa's internal decisions like the above.

Got answer from live chat:

"Well, the support will continue without issues, as we try to support as best as we can every printer/product, regardless if it's still under production. Now the mk3s+ will stop production, but the upgrades from the mk3s+ to mk3.5, 3.9 and 4 will continue to be produced until further notice"

RE:

Just a hunch, but with Mk3S+ production ending, there's a strong likelihood that the production of the Einsy board will soon follow, since I don't think it has a market beyond the Prusa Mk3 line.  There will come a time when there are no longer any to be had, and the Mk3.5 upgrade will be the default repair path for a Mk3 with a fried board.  For that reason alone, I would expect Prusa to keep at least the 3.5 upgrade available for as long as possible.

IIAC, the Einsy is actually produced by Ultimachine, not by Prusa, and is used on other machines, particularly the one-off RepRap types (not to mention Prusa clones).

If I am incorrect on that fact, please let me know.

Einsy is most definitely last-generation, but should be viable for some time to come.

The einsy used to be made by ulti machine but since about july i think they are made by prusa in house.

Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models

I was not aware that they are/were making their own.

That is open-source hardware (or so they say) so anyone should be able to make it.  In any case I'm sure that they will be available long after the MK3 series sunsets.

I do have one in my spare parts kit in case I need it.
