hotend
I have been having a lot of problems with nozzle blocking.
In the course of removing the nozzle to clean I have broken the heater cable from the block. Is it possible to reconnect the cable or is a new hotend needed?
If new hotend is needed how do I find part number?
Thanks for your help!
RE: hotend
You only really need a new heater. BUT the screw holding the heater in place is often difficult to loosen,
the manufacturers E3D, sell a sock and block pack

Heaters
https://e3d-online.com/standard-heater-cartridge
the Mk3 uses a 24 volt 40 watt heater
the Mk2 and Mk2.5 use a 12 volt heater... MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE RIGHT ONE if you put the wrong heater in a Mk3, it will try and pull 160 watts, and will wither melt something you don't want melting, blow a fuse or burn out quickly... the wrong voltage in a mk2 or 2.5 and you will not be able to achieve the temperatures you need to print!
It's always a good idea to have a spare thermistor as well (the wires are very fragile) I suggest you get at least one, as there is a chance that you will damage the thermistor wires whilst trying to replace the heater

If all else fails... you can get a complete hot end

E3D have resellers in various locations

RE: hotend
Hi Joan,
Thanks very much for your reply.
Heater and thermistor ordered!
Didn’t realise there was a UK supplier.
Regards,
Barry.
RE: hotend
E3D which makes the hotends is a UK company. Bit a bit weird if they weren't available in the UK 🙂
RE: hotend
Thanks very much.
Ordered!
RE: hotend
In my book, parts from E3D are as recommended as getting them directly from Prusa.
And a heck of a lot cheaper on shipping.
Doubly nice in the states - E3D has a good selection on Amazon. Two day free shipping with Prime.
