First Layer Calibration Options - What do you use?

What stl file do you use?

I typically use life adjust Z - my way, but I am looking for other files people use.

I also use:

and

I wanted test patterns corresponding to the test points for mesh bed leveling that was still quick to remove, so worked up my own. Jeff Jordan's life-adjust approach works well for every bed size and bed leveling mechanisms, so any grid will work.

@bobstro

Bob, thanks for sharing that.  I was looking for that one this am.  I wanted to use it to tune in my BIQU BX.

For calibration, the built in one works well enough for me.  With a flat level bed and 7x7 bed mesh leveling, it's' enough to get me close enough for a live Z after any filament color, brand or material type change.  I have bed lights on both sides so I watch for the curlies or the wavies on any first layer as it is going down and use Live-z adjust on the fly.

Like @dan-rogers I find the built-in calibration is enough.  I recall spending half a day on it the first time ... now it's half the zig-zag pattern.

Experience, hard won, but it pays off eventually.

Cheerio,
