Faulty Prusament

I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, but I can't find anything on the website or forum specific to the Prusa filament.

We have purchased a lot of Prusament and have always depended on its quality, like all thing Prusa. We are in the US, so it's not inexpensive to get it here. We always order directly from Prusa, too.

We just opened a PETG Urban Grey and the print failed a couple hours in. We found two issues that caused the fail. First, the spool was very badly wound and it got stuck.

The second problem was the inconsistency of the filament. You can see it in the image above a little bit. It looks like a string of sausages. You can see it more clearly in the image below. It is interesting that the kinking is just about at the point of the bad wrap on the spool. Something definitely went wrong here.

We have the box and scanned the code. It says it was made 11/30/2020 5:53:58PM. Of course the standard deviation is totally off the mark on this spool. We cut off the bad part and haven't had any more issues with the spool.

I just wanted to let Prusa know about this. It would be nice if there was a place to report Prusament issues.

Thanks.

There is.

You will need your order number, those two photos and the scan details from the spool.

Log into your Prusa shop account.  Click on Chat Now (bottom right in most browsers) and chat to one of their representatives.

@cwbullet

I contacted Prusa via the LiveChat feature in the Prusa shop. The customer support person was very kind and offered to send me a free spool as replacement. I declined the offer, as the rest of the spool seems okay. He said he didn't think there would be any more issues with the spool either.

He made a real point of stating that this is not acceptable and it would be reported to QA. He said they have a really high quality standard and it will be reported so this doesn't occur again.

I am very satisfied with this response. They actually care about the quality of Prusament and stand behind it. Can't ask for more than that. I won't hesitate to continue purchasing their filament.

I am becoming somewhat of a Prusa fanbo.  .  . girl. We own two Prusa printers and are very happy with them.
