Center filament spool on i3MK3s spool holder?
Hi,
I have not found an answer to this question yet: Why does apparently nobody care about centering filament spools on the holder so that they rotate perfectly centric? Having the spool hang off center of the holder does require the extruder motor to pull the filament much harder to come off the spool. Whilst I understand that there is no standard spool out there and holders would have to adapt to different diameters of the spool center, I wonder whether there´s a reason for this off-center placement.

I'm not sure if it is really a problem. You do want a little rotational friction to keep the spool from continuing to rotate under its own inertia when the printer stops pulling on the filament. The pull can come from one or a combination of: extruder feed, z-axis lowering, x-axis moving from center (well, centerline of the spool, exact location depends if you mount the holder to center the spool, or have mounted the holder centered on the frame) to one of the sides.
I haven't had a problem with my printer pulling filament into its extruder, but then I haven't used anything larger than a 1kg spool. (Printer started as a MK3 with the injection molded spool holder.)

no problem even with 5lb (2.5kg) spools on a auto-rewind spooler
