Buddy Camera a mistake?

For years, I have been using Octoprint, mainly just to remotely monitor, by video stream, the ongoing print jobs on my 3d printers. Last year Prusa sold things via Amazon, so I bought the buddy camera for my Core1. I thought that it would be easier than OP, since it was made by the printer's manufacturer. I was very wrong. It seems like it is just a way of making you conform to the Prusa ecosystem, and often drops out to boot, requiring another protracted setup. It's not working yet again, and I am considering binning it, and reverting to OP.

RE: Buddy Camera a mistake?

Have you reached out to Prusa Support? For years I was using Wyze cams to monitor my printers, but when I upgraded to Core Ones I added Buddy Cams, to be able to see the prints in Prusa Connect. Haven't had a problem since with them. The occasional auto-reboot but nothing that required a new setup.

RE: Buddy Camera a mistake?

I've had no real trouble with mine, so it's capable of working well. Definitely chat with Prusa support. I use mine to monitor all my prints from my living room recliner. I get real time live video on my phone via my local network. I get 1 fps on Prusa Connect. Video quality is quite good. I've never been able to connect via the ip address using something like VLC Media Player. I suspect it has something to do with my mesh router system, an impenetrable thing installed by my fiber provider.

RE: Buddy Camera a mistake?

My Buddy camera (reliably) shuts down when the chamber temp approaches 55°. Otherwise, works OK.
