Bottle openers
Have any of you tried to print and then tried to open a bottle with any of the bottle openers presented in the contest?
I did not, but I tried to draw and print some to participate but the result has always been the same: bottle opener broken due to the force necessary to be able to remove the coke cap from the bottle (like any kind of bottle opener do very easy), I will not know how to draw and I am not a mechanical engineer but, for example, a bottle opener made in the shape of a credit card with two 5-cent coins is certainly not capable of opening any bottle.
In all my long life I have never seen a bottle opener made of plastic.

as an example take a look at this faulty print which among others was also awarded (I have no idea what the prize is).............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

These snap competitions are never going to generate high quality prints. There isn't time for anything but the most cursory testing so unless the designer happened to be working on just such a project for a year or so before the competition was announced you can assume that even the winners are likely to be early prototypes at best.
Cheerio,
RE: Bottle openers
I've extensively tested my submission, still not broken 😀.
RE: Bottle openers
In my not so humble opinion, 3d printed plastic is the wrong tool for the job of making a beverage bottle opener.
Such a contraption would probably open a few otherwise twist-off caps, but I shudder to think if one would survive a house party where everybody is drinking Heineken. 😉
