Help identifying included filament

Hello there, i'm new here 🙂

I've purchased the mks3s and it came with a spool of filament. I've tryed a couple of other filaments off Amazon but the included one seems far superior (athou i have little experience). I'd like to purchase more of it but i'm not sure which one it is.

My spool has the following label: "PLA GalaxySilver, 1,75mm +/- 0,05 mm nozzle temperature 205 - 220 °C, Heatbed temperature 40-60 °C, Made in Europe ,Date 04/08/2021". The box says Basic Filament.

In the shop i can find the Galaxy Silver but it's sold as Prusament and the specs are a little different, or i can find Silver PLA but it's not Galaxy.

Any hint ? Perhaps it was renamed or something?

Thanks in advance!

The standard free spool is Prusa Silver PLA, which is made for Prusa by Filament PM, another Czech company.  Recently, I believe, international supply problems have caused some printers to be delivered with alternatives.

Their silver PLA is currently available from www.filament-pm.com it appears to be the same and I find the 2kg spools very convenient (print a larger spool holder).

Cheerio,

I have not bought a Prusa Printer for a while,

last time I bought one, is had metalic silver filament produced by FilamentPM  (Plasty Mladec) another Czech Manufacturer.

RE: Help identifying included filament

When I received my Prusa Mini+ in Dec 2021, it came with two small strands of Filament. One of the strands was the same filament you received. It was labeled Prusament Galaxy Silver. The Galaxy line of Prusament Filament has metal flecks in it which is very nice looking when printed. I used all my Galaxy Silver and was so impressed I purchased a spool of Galaxy Black. It is also a fantastic Filament. I highly recommend the Prusament Galaxy Filaments!  It is regular PLA  Filament other than the silver flecks. The Filament sold by Prusa uses the brand name Prusament.

Prusament PLA is manufactured in-house by Prusa. Here is a quote from their web page.

Prusament PLA is our own in-house made filament. The whole manufacturing process is closely monitored and tested - we guarantee ±0.02mm precision and highly-consistent colors. You can inspect parameters of every spool we made at prusament.com. Check the sample spool!

Mine came with Galaxy Silver but NOT the Prusament one.  It came with the rebranded Prusa kind.

RE:

I've (re)ordered the same stuff as the included silver-gray that came with the machine.

Here is the direct URL for the USA FilamentPM online store:

https://shop.filamentpm.com/pla/filament-pm-pla-silver-1-75-mm-1-kg

One caveat, if you order the 2kg spool, it's not the double-wide standard spool but a HUGE honking spool that will need to be re-spooled on smaller regular spools to be useful.
