I know I am. I come to Printables for quality models and feel the site is no place for the obtrusive and probably bogus ads. Hey Prusa, I will offer to keep these off your site for free! These guys will soon get the message that there is a new sheriff in town. You have my info to get in touch, give me a call.

I've been reporting them as I see them, but I haven't been following through to see if my reports did anything.

Quality is the reason I use this site. There should be a rule that all files should have a picture of the actual printed item. I hate these AI generated files.

If you take away the Prusameter rewards, the BS will stop. There should be zero reward for simply publishing something. Instead, what if rewards are only given after download and approval (like) by other users?

Isn't that only for 10 first models a user uploads and none after that? So that won't create an incentive to spam models. Still, the first models from anyone new will be comparatively poor quality, so maybe that's not the best practice. Despite that, a 'soft start' is a nice gesture.

I have not tracked it thoroughly but I believe these individuals are using different user names every time they post a new batch of these so I’m not sure how they could receive any benefit from Prusameter rewards, I’m not sure. I have posted a few remixes of items and received Prusameters for them, most have come from makes that I have posted and all have been donated to the educational program. To date, I have donated 5 spools to education and will continue to do so. I wish it was the first available option to select but that is just me, I will come down off my soap box now.

I do look at the site sometimes but apart from occasions when following up on a problem file reported here I haven't downloaded anything for ages and I can't remember when last I printed anything from the site. It ceased being of any real use at the end of 2021 ...
All sorts of scams and spams are posted from time to time - they tend to come in batches so you will see a few hundred ripped off programs with embedded malware, then a bunch of feature films pulling you into a dodgy site and so on; increasingly now there are the continuous floods of meaningless AI garbage. To be fair, when there is a determinable pattern Prusa's ops do delete after reports and sometimes the number of files on the site jolts down by few hundred ... With around a million posts the few tens of thousands of worthwhile files are buried too deeply to be discoverable and Prusa would need to allocate quite a large staff to tidy the mess so I guess it will remain a source of unaccountable problems for newbies until Prusa finally pull the plug.

The ones that I've seen post a link to the supposedly cracked software (I've never followed the links because I actually have a sense of cyber security) in the description and the stl is generally a generic shape.

...and the picture, if present, is generally unrelated.
Of course, some software is legitimate, a configurable OpenSCAD script to produce a personalised part for example.
