MK4 Multicolorprint ABS/ASA combination in heatead Chamber with 658 material changes without issues...

Hi @ All,

after a really long journey of failed prints due to Layershift and stucked Filament in the Extruder while Filament change and a lot of Trial and Error attempts, now I am at the point where I fixed most of my recouring issues.

Espacially if you print in an sctive heated chamber,  then the issues really starts. My biggest challange was here that the pulley wheel of the extruder heats up to the chamber temperature and together with idler tension it disforms the filament until the filament stops extruding, which often happens after approx 90mm Z height...

That print was printed with ABS filament anf BVOH Support Interface (forget fake info with HIPS Filament and D-Lemonen doesn´t work!!!)

If corrctly tuned, BVOH sticks perfectly while printing and after printing the most can be removed by break-a-way. (For ABS you need to print BVOH hotter, otherwise the leftover ABS in Nozzle blocks the BVOH after Filament change.) And my experience was, that an overextrudution (Extrution multiplier 1.4) also helps to improve sticking.

The Chamber was heated up to 70°C

Filaments:
fiberlogic ASA olive green
fiberlogic ABS burgundery
nobufil ABS stainless steel
fiberlogic BVOH

Nozzle 0.8mm, 0.3mm Layer height, 1 perimeter with 10% Zig-Zag Infill. The print is totaly robust and solid.

Hi,

this shows that many near impossible things can be done with the experience.

From the image I can't spot what printer model is.

  1. Is the power supply outside the box. ?
  2. Is the motherboard outside also ?
  3. What else mod have you done to the printer ?
  4. Is the MMU 2 or 3 ?
  5. Is the MMU inside or outside the box ? I assume outside.
  6. How did you solved the Idle issue ?

It would be interesting to know.

Regards

Hello Antimix,

indeed, but since that I invested a lot of time in nextruder Idler, because that still produces errors.

For your questions:

It is an MK4 Printer

  1. Is the power supply outside the box? > yes it is mounted at the backside of the chamber
  2. Is the motherboard outside also ? > No, but two 40mm Fans inside a tunnel (one inlet, one outlet) supplies the manboard with cool air from outside.
  3. What else mod have you done to the printer ? > A lot... The most important I released on printables today, a Nextruder Idler that works now really with different filament material, see here: https://www.printables.com/model/1269218-nextruder-mmu-multi-material-gamechanger
  4. Is the MMU 2 or 3 ? > A to MMU3 upgraded MMU2
  5. Is the MMU inside or outside the box ? I assume outside. > Yes outside on top, together with the Auto rewinder spools.
  6. How did you solved the Idle issue ? > I had an own idler that uses special hardeware ago, but this was still buggy, so I designed the IAF-Idler...
