Buddy 3D Filament Review

Has anyone tried out the Buddy 3D filament? If so, how does it compare to Prusament? Will it be sold through Printed Solid?

I really like the consistency of Prusament but I’d like to have a cheaper option since a lot of what I print is for the grandkids, nieces, and nephews.

I haven't tried the Buddy 3D Filament. But since you ask about it being available through Printed Solid, have you tried out Printed Solid's own Jessie filament? They make it on site in Delaware, and the price is good. I've had good experience with Jessie filament, but YMMV.

RE: Buddy 3D Filament Review

Hello,
Well, I have some Buddy3D filament... And I don't really know what to say...
Not the same quality for sure.
I do encounter some bed adhesion issue on ABS and ASA, even with gluestick or magigoo on the satin sheet.
Just gave a try for a bag clip (+/- 4g) on a cheap textured pei, worked better but not confident for large pieces.
It might be my mistake if it does not stick well on satin. So I have to dig further before being firm on my toughts.

I  have two rolls of Buddy ABS, they have been printing well on my MMU3, even alongside ASA in the same print.
Additionally I have used Buddy ABS Alongside some Chinese  ABS that I picked up at SMRRF recently (Sanjay Mortimer Rep Rap Festival, in Manchester, England)
no problems so far    however I am using an enclosure... ABS tends to warp in not printed in an enclosure.

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility.Location Halifax UK

RE: Buddy 3D Filament Review

Well, as I said, might be my mistake... and surprise (not really in deed), it's the case...

As usual cleaning routine for my spring sheet, hot water and soap, no fingers on the build plate, waiting for it to dry bla bla bla. But everytime I washed my hands with this soap, it feeled smooth.
So I gave a try with another one and tadaaa it sticks to the build plate, not perfect but wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better.
Next step: rubb gently with the green side of a new sponge to be sure of getting rid of the anti-stick/oily/not-so-cleaning soap that might be contaminating the surface.

So now that I solved my own issue, let's print !!

@JoanTabb: my printer lives in an enclosure too. I was disappointed because the print before I openned the new roll of Buddy3D filament was sticking really well (Flashforge natural ASA). And I remembered after posting my answer that in between I cleaned my buildplate.
Mistake corrected 😉

I tried the green glittered PLA buddy3d filament. It prints really well, sort of expected, my only negative is that perhaps the glitter is a bit too much, too strong in this one. It even comes more contrasty than prusament galaxy black, and that's black 😛
