MK4S + Enclosure + External Display confusion

Hey all,

I just purchased the MK4S + Original Enclosure kit.  I finished building the printer and successfully calibrated and ran a print.  Now, I'm looking to build the enclosure around the unit.  Here's where I'm getting confused:

-I want to mount the display externally.
-Apparently the newer enclosure kits do not come with the required parts, so I have to print them (no big deal).
-When looking at the assembly manual, there are only instructions to print parts for the MK4, and not the MK4S.
-Bottom line:  Can I mount the display externally for the MK4S, if so, what parts do I need to print and which assembly instructions should I follow?

I'm sure I'm missing something silly, but any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

-Leland

I am pretty sure there are no changes to the LCD between MK4 and MK4S so you can use the MK4 printable parts and assembly instructions.  but there appears to be a change to the LCD supports for the MK4S.  The Printables site for the enclosure printable parts shows a print for the injection moulded LCD supports as well as versions A and B prints for the LCD support.

Step 26  of 2C for f the enclosure with external LCD assembly instructions shows what you need and the parts are on the Printables website

RE: MK4S + Enclosure + External Display confusion

We found the top cover of the xLCD is slightly bigger than the MK4 version.   Also the back of the xLCD is covered with the MK4S xLCD mount.  It also adds an installation proof tab for the ribbon cable.    I think the back cover is to prevent things from getting at the board and causing shorts.  I like the idea of covering an exposed circuit board.   It only mounts to the printer.  The mounting points are the wrong height to mount to the enclosure.   Mounting the xLCD outside the enclosure needs an adapter or a Modified mount.

One mod for an Enclosure external xLCD mount is the Fender mount.   There is an MK4S version now also to use the MK4S top xLCD cover.  You can use just the center, xLCD cover or the full thing as you desire.    I created a back cover for the fender mount.   There are 2 versions of the back cover to fit the 2 versions of the xLCD board.   This makes the xLCD fully enclosed similar to what the MK4S xLCD back cover and mount does.

According to Prusa, the display on the MK4s is mounted on the printer and no longer on the enclosure.

Fwiw, I had this problem, too. I got an MK4S and the enclosure. The instructions were inconsistent and the parts provided from Prusa didn't fit. I ended up having to print the mounting arms. I got there in the end, but you're certainly not alone in wondering how to put these pieces together. The parts I needed were  https://www.printables.com/model/251931-enclosure-printable-parts/files#preview.file.LgkU4 and https://www.printables.com/model/251931-enclosure-printable-parts/files#preview.file.R368S.
