Z axis stops advancing ~40mm height, print fails

Recently purchased a MINI+, it works fine for flattish objects but the Z axis seems to just stop advancing once it gets to about 40mm height?

I printed the "nut" test object successfully but two attempts at the "screw" test object resulted in the Z axis stopping right around the same spot. The extruder nozzle just keeps mushing itself around in the print without going higher. No error messages or anything, the printer seemed totally unaware that there was a problem?

X, Y and Z axes pass the full self-test with no issues, but I've seen some other forum posts suggesting that there may be a subtler problem with the nut or leadscrew that isn't caught by the self-test?

For what it's worth, I was able to get the screw printed tonight after trying a few things (steps in the post you linked above). I can't say for sure which worked or if it was the combination. I will say after raising my nozzle on the x-axis I did do another z calibration test and still had a good result on test (sharp corners and good square at the end).

Hopefully that helps you out!

I am pleased to report that Prusa support reviewed a video of the issue and promptly sent me a replacement Z-motor (with built in leadscrew). The Z axis now runs smoothly over its entire length and I'm successfully printing taller objects. Thanks for the good customer service! Shame about the leadscrew quality issues, hope the supplier can sort that out?
