X axis stutters and calibration pt 3 fails

I've assembled my i3 MK3S printer kit and am unable to get to print.  Firmware is as delivered, 3.9.2.  First issue is the x axis stutters as I manually move the print carriage across the x axis.  This is making the movement during calibration noisy, but it moves. The real issue that's stopping printing is the third point in the calibration on the far right side of the bed.  Point 1 and 2 pass fine, but when it moves into position for the third point of the nine point calibration, the PINDA is off to the right of the bed and doesn't trigger so the nozzle hits the bed and calibration fails. It then goes into Z calibration mode repeatedly, and after 3 or 4 tries, calibration fails.  Is the x-axis supposed to move that far to the right so the PINDA is not over the bed. Seems like that would cause it not to trigger and the print head to hit the bed, as is happening here.  Any advice for checking the length of the X-axis? Would like to do some Christmas printing.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

I think that your X-axis is skewed and maybe the print bed rods are not parallel. I would definitely check the complete mechanics and all screws for tightness.

Hi John, does your X and Y axis move smoothly by hand?

did you lubricate the bearings during assembly?

if not, now might be a good time.

If the printer still does not work, can we have some pictures of the printer please  including one looking from the left, onto the X Motor Toothed Pulley

regards Joan

@joantabb

Thank you very much for the direction on lubricating the bearings. It sounds quieter and definitely moves more smoothly.  I have photos as well as video of the leveling failure. I will try to attach.  The photo from the right facing the fan shows the Pinda is way past the bed when the 3rd leveling step takes place and the print head hits the bed. 2020-12-10 20.08.41

The video shows up as an orange link just after the last picture.  Is there any help available to get my Z level set and a successful first layer?

Hi John,

I have no idea what the X carriage is doing over that side of the build plate. The Pinda Probe  is beyond the  edge of the bed, and therefore is not sensing the build plate and consequently not calibrating Z properly...

unfortunately we don't see what happens before that...
If you select 'Home All' from the LCD Menu does the X carriage go to the left of the printer, or does it go to the right of the printer?

Mine goes to the left of the printer....

Have you seen the video's on this page?

this is actually a Mk3, but the process is the same foe the Mk3S

regards Joan
