Weird groaning noise on Z axis

Hi,

Just got my shiny Mini+ (not kit) and found this peculiar groaning noise from Z axis moving down while running the self test.  Which part could be causing this?  Since I didn’t assemble the printer, I’m unsure where to check…

Z axis

make sure that the trapezoidal nut under the X-axis assembly is not to tight, maybe loosen a bit then run the Z-axis up and down and hand tighten again, had the same issue.

You are referring to the black collar/sleeve looking thing screwed (2 x M3 screws) to the bottom of the orange XZ motor drive assembly that travels up and down the Z axis?

Abacabie is definitely correct, mine did the same thing and I had to loosen one of those two screws. One was very tight while the other was loose.

Thanks for your help, I have loosened the two bolts and re-tightened lightly, no more groaning noise while performing Z-axis self test.

Worked for me as well

Thanks for the tip, my pre-assembled Mini+ also had this noise when moving down, and loosening/hand tightening the two nuts underneath has resolved it
