Super pinda sensor problem - bad adhesion on first layer after sensor cool down
Hi to everyone,
I'm happy user 😰 Â from yesterday of Prusa Mini + but I have problem with Super Pinda sensor 😡 Â I read about that sensor need 35 degree Celsius for proper working. When sensor is above 35 C it's working great but when it cool down first layer are bad (nozzle is too high for it). I saw that on the morning when is a little cold than during all day.
I found that part of start code as below for fix that:

It is correct for my problem ? It will solve it ? Why in example someone use G80 instead G29 ? And G28 W instead G28 ? Can You explain that to me ??

You are wrong on this (I assume you've read some older articles). Prusa Mini+ uses SuperPINDA, which is temperature independent. Means, if you have any issues, then that's not because of SuperPINDA accuracy would be influenced by temperature. If it works (not broken), then the only thing that matters, is the right distance to bed.

I would be very surprised if that was the case. Please show us your first layer calibration and the underside of a failed print.

I have live Z adjust on level -1.780 mm and it works great but when I turn on my Mini + today morning I saw that first layer is bad.... (as nozzle to high).
I try few times to set it again but I can't...
When I restart my Mini + it's again OK. I start my print and after bed cool down and start another print and again first layer was bad... (as nozzle to high).
I must try to set first layer after turn on mi printer and I check it is OK.

First you need to make sure, that SuperPINDA has the right distance from the print sheet. Here's how to do that:
Move printhead down (by manually rotating Z-shaft) until tip of the nozzle touches print sheet. Now measure distance between print sheet and bottom of SuperPINDA. The distance should be about 1.4-1.5mm. If your distance is less or more than that, then adjust SuperPINDA height. When you finsih, fix (tighten) SuperPINDA so it can't move by itself.
Now start fresh First Layer Calibration by choosing 0 (zero) Z-offset option! If you are using smooth PEI sheet, then you can expect good first layer at Z-offset somewhere between -0.600 and -8.000.
If you still have problem, then show us a photo where we can see your print head and how your first layer looks.

Thanks for advices - I think I have found solution for that problem but I will check it.
I have newest firmware 4.3.3 with HW Setup option and I do setup for Smooth1 sheet and I save it. I have set the same value as on live Z adjust -1.780 mm for my configuration. I choose Smooth1 and everything started all right.
I will see after turning ON tommorow and I let You know that's the fix for that problem.Â

I decided that I will set my Super Pinda sensor one again. I set it higher according instruction and now I have it on level -0.850 mm on smooth sheet 😊Â
Unfortunately problem with first layer appears after finishing one print, took of the sheet and start again another print 😐Â
It's very strange for me and have no idea what's the root cause of that state...

As already mentioned, some photos would be very helpful. We need to see, if hotend & SuperPINDA is assembled properly, and also show us your first layer calibration print.

I'm getting better result with lowering my settings to -1.000 mm 😊Â It's more repeatable now with taking off sheet after print.
I'm adjusting my first layer initially with assistant from Mini+ menu (on level -0.850 mm) but when I started my print I have been used live Z adjust for more precise tuning and perfect first layer set (on level -1.000 mm).
I think that steel smooth sheet bend a little with aid of temperature and that values of height changes a little.
I will let You know after more print is that helped 😇Â

UPDATE:
I observed that I must cool down smooth sheet to about 25-27 degrees C and start to print after that - it's more repeteable now 😊Â
