Strange noise on z axis (always same place)
Hello,
I have a strange noise on the z-axis. It is always on the same place. I've had this noise since I got the printer. In all other places I don't have this on the z-axis. I already lubricated the rods but no improvement. The sound only occurs when the axis goes down
Anyone have an idea what this could be?

I've been getting this too, also in the same place. Not sure what it is yet.

I have the same problem I tried today to figure out what it is and I have found that the spiral rod is touching the metal base.
This causes the whole thing to resonate and create this sound. I am not sure how to straighten the rod though. Isn't it supposed to have some kind of driver to keep it straight? It seems like its loose on the bottom.
If anyone has any ideas they are welcome.

Mine too - always near the bottom about 30mm or so above the bed.

I have the same problem, the noise is so loud that the whole printer is vibrating on the table. Any ideas?

Hello,
Thx for the tip @geoper2. I loose the screws and recenter the lead screw. Everythings is good for now. Less then 5 minutes work.

My noise sounded like a resonant frequency of the Z rods or a vibration, almost like metal parts that were not lubricated.
So I checked my lead screw (mentioned in a prior post) and it was perfectly centered. However I decided to take some of my Prusa lubricant and grease the Z rods and lead screw and PRESTO! the noise went away. Just a tiny dab of grease on the threads and rods. Theoretically the grease doesn't make it inside the bearing (because of the dust cover) so maybe just the lead screw needed the lubricant but hey I went ahead and did all the other rods also. (Then I cleaned up the excess grease off the screw, rods and bearings).
Much happier now that it's silent and properly lubed.

Isn't this supposed to damage the mechanism that is self-lubricating?
