Printing handbook question

 I have a question for  9.4 flex

 "Material can adhere very strongly to the smooth pei sheet and require to use of a glue stick as separator to avoid surfac damage."

Question is how I use glue stick?

Thank you

Don't clean with ipa when print with path.

Then what I need to use to clean plate instead of ipa?

RE: Printing handbook question

1) How to use glue stick: Just rub it on the surface where you will be printing.  Doesn't have to be smooth or pretty - the nozzle and filament will push any excess aside

2) Don't clean with IPA:  Wait. Wha???

PETG & flexibles really likes to stick to PEI so it can potentially damage the smooth PEI sheet when you're removing a finished print form the build surface.

Using IPA on a cold bed removes most oils from the surface of the sheet (such as oils from your finger), and these oils generally reduce adhesion.  So the warning is implying that these oils would be beneficial for removing PETG/flex prints from the smooth PEI sheet.

If you're printing in PLA, then you shouldn't need to worry too much about too much adhesion.

Honestly, you should not print PETG directly on the smooth sheet anyway.  Are they seriously recommending allowing finger/handling oils to build up to act as a PETG release agent?  Sounds very unreliable.  Use the textured sheets or gluestick (or tape, or any of various other alternatives folks have come up with) for PETG.  I wipe with 99% IPA between every print regardless of the material (PLA & PETG primarily) and have no issues with adhesion (both MK3 and MINI).  For Flex and Nylon, I have a dedicated plate which I use the gluestick on - I just add more glue where needed between prints.  Occasionally (~every 10 prints or so) I will wash it and start fresh.

@atomleef

I just use soap and water, then dry thoroughly.  However, I should restate that for the gluestick I am using a dedicated sheet so don't clean often.  The texture sheet blog says not to expose the textured Prusa sheets to water - not sure about the smooth.  Either way, dry thoroughly.
