Not printed for a while, prints awful, is it wet filament?

Hi,

I've been too busy to print for the past few months, tried today, and the prints are awful. Any ideas, is it likely caused by wet filament?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

RE:

You need to provide more details about the filament.

Some ideas:
- dry the filament, especially if it was PETG (unload it from the nozzle to avoid wet filament in the PTFE tubes)
- there could be some dust on the filament and the spool, and if you have not cleaned it then it ended in the nozzle and causes issues such as partial clog - do a cold pull few times to clean it up
- do a general printer maintenance if it was not used for a long time - especially lubricate the rods etc, check tension of the belts, general rigidity of the printer.

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

The three common reasons for prints suddenly failing after a printer has been unused for a while:

A dirty print bed. Give it a really thorough clean and avoid touching the print area.

Damp filament. Look up threads here about drying filament especially if it has been left open.

General neglect, dust and cobwebs... Basic cleaning, lubrication and general maintenance have all been missed.

 - and yes, that looks like damp filament.

Cheerio,
