first prints went well but something changed and now it's my results are very disappointing

I printed a few items over a few months period and all was going well. This week, I tried printing an object and noticed the filament extrusion stopped flowing after a few minutes (5mins) after the print started. I believe the PTFE tube near the hotend needed to be tightened up and I did that procedure. the procedure was shown in various videos on youtube and it matched up with documentation on the prusa website. after that adjustment, the printer started working much better but I'm still seeing distortions when printing my first layer for a large rectangle object. I tried changing the offset on the Z axis but the distortions were still present when a long diagonal line was printed between the top and bottom of the rectangle. I was able to print a much smaller rectangle and the print works much better....how can a larger object with longer runs cause the print to produce lots of distortion.

I might be trying to fix two issues. perhaps the PTFE adjustment fixed one of the issues and there is one more issue to determine?

Attached is a picture of what i'm experiencing....what should i try next?

Generally - surfaces curling are contamination on the print bed. Fingerprints are all too common. Disk soap and hot water remove fingerprint oils better than anything else. Scrub with a fresh paper towel, rinse until the hot water sheets off: handle the bed only by the edges to prevent recontaminating the surface. Dab any remaining drops of water with another fresh paper towel.

Rarely, curls can be due to over-extrusion; changing the extrusion multiplier can help in those cases.

Why do larger pieces show the problems? The printer accelerates as it moves. Small pieces are never printed at the full printer speed. Thus, more time to cook oils and fats out of the way and stick properly.

@tim-m30

i have wiped the bed with rubbing alcohol multiple times and paper towels to remove any visible oil deposits and it looks really clean. do you think cleaning with dish soap will improve the situation still? i'm open to giving it a try though.

Here is a really clean bed where I used a full ounce of 91% alcohol for cleaning.
