First print ripples

Hi all, happy new year!

Just got my mini+ this past weekend and finally had a chance to calibrate and run the first print (Prusa log0)

the issue I'm having is the first layer looks to have too many ripples. I'm assuming it should be smoother than the image shows.

My guess is that my nozzle height is calibrated too high still? Not enough squish?

Hope you can help.

Thanks.

OK, update. it was the first layer height calibration.

I Lowered it and it now looks like how I would expect. Way smoother.

Much Better!

this thread discusses improving first layer calibration... but it was started before the Mini came on the scene, so the squares end up off centre on the Mini,

I will attach a set of files for the mini, on here

RE: First print ripples

I think the ripples are a nice looking texture. 😉 But that might not be what you're going for and it really stinks when your print detaches several hours into a print because your first layer was bad.

I was having a lot of issues with failed prints and had started using glue sticks again until I saw this post and tried the test print. I think I've got it dialed in now and am waiting for my first post-calibration print. Nothing has detached so far, so I'm happy--thanks for the info!
