First First Layer Calibration- more to go?

I'm a rookie at this...I have done a few iterations and I am at -0.780.  Do I still have have more to go to lower the nozzle?  Is their any kind of recommendations in what increments to step?  I don't want to ram the nozzle into the plate.

Thank you in advance,

Mark

You need to go lower.  Your filament is not sticking on the zip zag and it appears to be not fuzed in the rectangle.  .

Much more to go.

The actual value you get is different for each printer, it compensates for tiny variations in the manufacturing process.

If you are having difficulty with the built in calibration process take a look at this thread:

https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/life-adjust-z-my-way/

You are aiming to print a single layer *sheet*. It should be possible to peel it off in one and fold it without the threads seperating. If it breaks into lines it is too high, not squished enough. If it is a single sheet but with wavy lines or drag marks on it you are too low.

Hth, Cheerio,

Getting Live-Z right is definitely a goldilocks exercise. I've put together some notes and pics showing the Live-Z process here that you might find useful.

Thanks. I've tried to capture all the little details that would've helped me understand it all early on.

@bobstro

We often forget the tactile learning that occurs as we get mroe experience.  We have a feel for the right Z level over time.
