First few mm of beads come up?

Struggling with the start of each bead peeling off on my Prusa Mini+.   4-8mm. Here's what I've done so far:

  • Ensured auto bed leveling is correct.
  • Cleaned the bed, adjusted the nozzle height.
  • Checked first layer settings; using a 2mm brim.
  • Raised bed temp from 60 to 72°C.
  • Using Prusa filament, printer firmware updated.
  • Printing in an enclosed space.
  • Still facing issues with the initial print adhesion.
  • dawn/iso

Open to suggestions, particularly regarding adhesion aids.

You need to provide more information. What is a bead? That word is not very specific. Maybe a picture would show what you mean. Exactly what version of firmware and slicer are you using? Recently there has been massive change and in my opinion, improvement, but requiring more precise setup. Most of all, what filament are you using, PLA, PETG, Prusa, Matterhackers, etc? Please be very specific, such as "Prusament Orange PETG" The answers are very different for different types of filament.

Regards,

Mark

RE: First few mm of beads come up?

apologies.  These are my first prints and printer.  Need to learn.

What’s going wrong:  When laying down the first layer, when the printer starts a line on the bed, the first few mm don’t adhere.  Then it sticks.  When the nozzle comes back around, it kicks the existing line up off the bed and wreaks havoc.    The rest of the line appears to adhere well.

Prusa Mini Plus.  (Newly assembled)

Prusament PLA blue

Firmware 5.1.0

Boot loader 2.3.0

Buddy board 108

Z is at -1.303

Prusa Slicer 2.7.0 macOS.

I basically used the default slicer settings and just raised the bed to 74 from 60.  It was an experiment that took my prints from spaghetti to actual prints.

Everything else is default.

The thing I’m trying to print is just a Gridfinity baseplate.  Please let me know what else you need.

I Wash my Build plate in the sink with hot water and dish soap / detergent, then rinse well with hot water, and dry immediately with plain paper towels.
Keep your fingers off the build plate surface, handle it by the edges.

IPA tends to spread finger grease around the build plate in an even thin film, rather than taking it off the  build plate.

Dish soap is designed to capture grease with surfactants (Part of the dish soap recipe) , and wash them away. leaving a cleaner surface.
