Clicking from extruder and issue with print
Hello,
I am a fresh owner of Prusa Mini (not plus) 3D printer. It's a second hand from my friend who got an upgrade. The printer worked pretty fine in his house, but once I have tried to print anything, I got stuck. There are two main errors
- printer stops printing after few seconds (can be seen on attached photos)
- and than strange noise from extruter (can be heard on attached video)
I went through all steps in 3D printing handbook by Prusa and also many topics in this forum. I have also checked some troubleshooting videos and done my best debugging, but with no success.
Printer config
- Prusa Mini with firmware version 6.0.3+1409
- Using Smooth Steel Sheet by Prusa
- Used model is this Prusa plate
- Filament is AURAPOL PLA 3D 1.75 mm
- Nozzle temperature is set to 215°C
- Heatbead temperature is set to 60°C
- z-axis is adjusted to -1.3
What I have tried so far
- disassembled and cleaned extrured (see attached photos)
- used a needle to cleanup the nozzle
- used different filament - rPLA by EKOMB (same results)
- used textured heatbead (just in case...)
- adjusting the screw on extruder (tight / loose)
I have also created a shared album with photos and videos in full resolution, can be found on this link.
Clicking noise here
Here you can see when printer stopped printing
Does anyone know, what might be the issue here?

After following steps in the article Squaring your MINI (especially the part Fine-tuning the XZ-axis) it seems the issue is solved.
RE:
It seems that the video is missing, I am sharing a link leading to video with the clicking noise
I have also
- cleaned up the nozzle using cold pull
- prepared the surface with dish soap and water
- done first layer calibration
I think the issue is with the X axis. It seems like it's not parallel with the print surface.
RE: Clicking from extruder and issue with print
Not a lot to go on but from that pic it looks like the bed is skewed now. ie the filament on the left is not squished enough and on the right is far too squished, so much that the filament cant exit the nozzle.
You probably knocked the printer out of square when moving it. It needs to be completely checked for square again and recalibrated. There are various sources of info. The manual would probably be a good place to start. Google is your friend though, so something like https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/hardware-firmware-and-software-help/oh-no-were-skewed-prusa-mini-edition/ for example.
... another possibility is something on the back of the print sheet or stuck to the print bed causing one side to lift. Plus, not the current problem - there are fingerprints on the print sheet which will cause other adhesion problems if not cleaned off.
Cheerio,
RE: Clicking from extruder and issue with print
Thank you guys. I have concluded the same - issue with X axis, even though the post is "Awaiting moderation" and thus not visible.
@diem: fingerprints were cleaned
I would expect to see the issue after first layer calibration, however it looks pretty OK (first few cm are before Z axis adjustment). :/
RE:
Ok, I am now convinced that the issue is caused by X not being parallel and thus Z is not 90° to base. See those two images below. This is wild, I think the height between heatbad and nozzle is > 1 mm.

RE: Clicking from extruder and issue with print
The sensor of the first mini doesn't work correctly when the printer is cold.
Sometimes the nozzle touch the bed and the plastic can't go out. The extruder can't push the filament and this make a recognizable sound.
You have to preheat your printer for a couple of minutes
or check when you use it cold if the nozzle is in contact with the bed during the purge.
-> I ofen correct the Z offset when I use my mini.
They changed the sensor: minda to the superpinda
