Changing filament and purging
Hello, I am on my third print and I have changed filament two times to try different colors (all Prusaments, will try something else later). I have noticed loading and unloading filament is a bit problematic - for me unloading worked fine so far (knocks on IKEA desk), just loading is a bit problematic. Gears catch filament and push it through bowden tube, but then during purging nothing gets out. Since first time loading filament ever during initial calibration worked fine first time, I start to worry something's broken or jammed. But it takes about 5 Purge filament commands for filament to finally go out. Since load/unload routine offers only one extra attempt for it, I have to do it manually. Is anyone else experiencing this? This kind of makes mid-print filament changes problematic.
RE: Changing filament and purging
I've tried a few times to do a print with a colour change in it, included as per Prusaslicer.
So far its not done it properly and i've had to cancel the print everytime.
I figured it was a firmware glitch and would have to wait for a fix ?????
Anyone managed a colour/filament change sucessfully yet ???

RE: Changing filament and purging
If I reset the printer with button and try unload/load routine, it works first time. Just after print without re-set or mid-print it's acting up. Yeah, seems like firmware glitch.

Crawlerin,
I change filament a lot mid print. And have never had this problem. I also reload filament many times daily using my printer as close to 24x7 as possible. You should not have this problem.
Did you build your Prusa 3D printer as a kit or buy it assembled? You can contact Prusa support either way. If your printer is another brand you should contact that manufacturer. The Prusa Slicer software works properly to load and unload most printers, though it may be tuned for the Prusa.

It is a Mini, or at least, it is posted in the Mini forum, so there is no question as to whether it is a kit or assembled.

It is not quite kit you assemble from bolts and nuts, and not quite fully assembled ...? There were no options to choose from on that e-shop whether I want assembled or kit, just filament spool or sample, sheets and additional filament sensor. It looked very convincing to Original Prusa, but yeah there are some red flags like the price was considerably lower than MK3S and it came in 3 parts in the box which most cloned Chinese printers do ... how do I determine whether it is a clone or not? I believe it is original, I mean I can't completely rule it out but it would be rather unexpected if they gave me other brand on pickup at the reception of Prusa factory 🤣
In all seriousness now, Prusa Slicer works fine and puts necessary code there, but if printer does not have filament change properly implemented in firmware yet or is bugged, then there's only so much I can do right now. The firmware for Buddy provides basic functionality, but some features are missing (crash detection, power loss recovery, USB detection) or buggy (X-axis motor going haywire after cancelling print). Raise issue on github and ask on a forum (like here or here or over there) where I describe the problem and ask if anyone else is experiencing this or are there any known crowd-sourced solutions already.
