Bearing Noise - Is this Normal?

Hi All,

Bearing Noise Video << Click here for video

Just starting my Prusa Mini+ assembly.  I greased the bearings per the instructions and everything seemed to go well.  The grease came out the other side of the bearing as expected.

They seem a little loud and 'grindy'.  Do these bearings sound OK, or should I go back and regrease them? Video linked above.

I'd appreciate opinions.

Thanks,

Rob

RE: Bearing Noise - Is this Normal?

Are you sure that noise is coming from the bearings? I think most of that noise is the stepper motor spinning as you move the axis back and forth. They are not quiet when you do that.

Did you try sliding the Y-axis carriage on the rails before you hooked up the stepper motor belt?

Failing this, if I remember I can get you a comparison video this evening.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, I just disconnected the belt and the bearings make the same sound.  The stepper motor is all quiet.  A comparison video would be most helpful if you could do that.

Thanks Again!

Rob

Is the bearing orientation correct?

Here’s a video of my Y-axis plate being moved. First half is with stepper motor connected, second half I have disconnected the belt so stepper motor didn’t turn.

Then, as a preview for you, after I reconnected the belt I had started a print (a print bed sheet holder for two sheets), and took a video to show you some of the various sounds you’ll hear once you finish your assembly and start printing.

Thanks for reply. Yes, at least that’s what I attempted to do. Unless they moved they should be correctly oriented.
