Obxidian Nozzle & diameter - general recommendation?
Hi there,
i'm using a MK4S and already ordered the MK4S-to-Prusa-One-Conversation KIT. I'm using the default 0,4mm CHT-Nozzle.
I'm not printing much - maybe 1-2 prints in 2 weeks, but with the Prusa One, i would like to print advanced filaments like ABS and such, that are abrasive. Also, in would like to buy a MM3, as soon as it's "compatible" for the Prusa One later that year.
For know, i would like to buy a new Nozzle, like the Obxidian CHT. I've read, that i should use a standard 0,4mm-Nozzle for the MMu3 (without CHT) - that is fine.
Could you give me some advice?
- If i use a Obxidian CHT-Nozzle; can i print normal filaments like PLA and PETG in the same quality like the standard brass-nozzles? Would i detect differences in quality, or something else?
- I'm printing mainly functional parts. Should i buy a 0,6mm Obxidian-Nozzle, so that the prints would be a little bit faster? Or is there a downside for this usecase?

No you shouldn't. I can't see a difference. Having said that I use standard Obxidian, not CHT, as I found the speed gains from CHT to be minimal and not outweigh issues I have had with it.

Similarly, for most things I print I find the 0.6 mm nozzle to yield little speed improvement but visibly lower quality. I do use it occasionally for bulky items where quality doesn't matter but after having spent a long time juggling different nozzle sizes, these days I have pretty much settled on 0.4.
Obviously your mileage may vary considerably.
