@bobcousins
I searched around a bit based on @vintagepc's previous post about using Permatex Copper Silicone with glycerin and found these comments from others who used the same for a "silicone boot for Wanhao D6 hotend". You have to scroll a bit to find what's worked for others, but there are comments about release agents that were used as well. The person who uploaded that model used Mold Max 60 which is the same product recommended by @lichtjaeger
I'm also considering trying it out.

Thanks for the design @lichtjaeger !

I've been using the sock for the last few weeks without much fuss. I accidentally snipped the wrong sides with my first sock, so it's a little loose on one side. Otherwise everything went pretty smoothly!
I used Smooth-on Mold Max 60.

I had trouble getting the material and looking for amazon I found something cheaper that gave me good results so I did a remix of the mold
RE: Specific silicon socks for Mini
I just put my sock on my Mini and I'm quite pleased.
I've just had my printer a month and never made a mold or used silicone this way before. It worked great! I ended up getting Permatex Ultra Copper RTV Silicone Gasket Maker for $8 which is rated to 371°C. Based on other comments I'd read I coated the inside of the mold with some glycerin and mixed a drop into the silicone to help it cure. 24 hours later it's looking great. Well, I think I could do a better job cleaning up some edges now that I see the picture. 😀
RE: Specific silicon socks for Mini
would also like to get a silicon sock for my mini.
Living in Austria, any chance to get some shipped to me 😉
RE: Specific silicon socks for Mini
I'm interested in some as well if someone is still able to ship to the US.

As lichtjaeger previously posted, it seems like the Mold Max 60 would work. Available from Amazon here. But this gets you lots more material than you need for lots more cost at $35.50 shipping included. The Permatex copper worked well for me and I ordered online from my local ACE Hardware for $8. I already had the glycerin, but that is just $3-$5 at CVS/Rite Aid etc. Don't forget the M3x35mm bolts/nuts if you don't already have them. I'm happy with the results from the Permatex copper and recommend it. Several people have asked if I'd make one for them, but frankly, it is pretty easy to do, and I'm not that interested in shipping them out to people. Just give it a go! As I mentioned above, I'm a complete noob at this and had no problems.

El molde que rediseñe funciona perfectamente con:
Permatex 81160 Hi Temp Silicone Red
No hace falta glicerina solo Agua y jabón para mojar el molde. yo ya realicé varios calcetines y quedan genial los puse hasta 280 grados por varias horas sin problema alguno. recomiendo dejar 48h antes de desmoldar. Un saludo

I've used that permatex ultra copper for a custom heater block sock and it works just fine, with some drops of glycerin added. Otherwise it never cures even after a week.

What can you recommend when buying from amazon.de or any other shop shipping to Austria.
RE: Specific silicon socks for Mini
@charles-h13
1 kg is better value for the money - at least depending on where it ships. DE they ship for free. Mine was shipping around 18 Eur ... to Czech Republic. Across the border. FML 😥
RE: Specific silicon socks for Mini
@crawlerin
Agreed. I wish they shipped to USA. I would but the biggest one they sell. Does it come in a 50 L drum?

Ouch, you're not kidding on the shipping... I found an eBay listing, but figuring in the shipping, it's around $60USD shipped. It's on the UK ebay site, but does indicate shipping to US. Would that work, and if so, what would that bring the finished product to (rough estimate)? Thanks!
