Rigid mount for mini (or mini inside a portable enclosure)
I wonder how the mini would react to being mounted rigidly to a base board with a brace for the Z-axis inside a portable frame.
And if so the board should be mounted rigid or flex against the enclosure-frame.
My idea was two-fold, enclose the printer for both safety (no fingers poking inside) and draftfree printing.
And the ease of relocating the printer to where it is needed (on the go, mobile site, show and tell, etc).
My printer will most likely show up end of this week or beginning next week (got shipping notice today but not left prusa yet).
Thoughtpattern similar to how the frame of MK3 is, and you can grab it on the top without risking bending anything inside the printer.
Discussions, ideas, tips, already built ones are very welcome.

RE: Rigid mount for mini (or mini inside a portable enclosure)
Interesting idea. In practice though I'm not sure how necessary/useful it would be. I have mine in LACK enclosures to address the safety and dust protection issue. And by itself the Mini is might portable anyway, especially with Matt's handle: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/14610-prusa-mini-handle.
In any case, I'm looking forward to others' feedback on this idea.

Yes i've seen handles on the mini before, among others 3DPrintingNerd's videos.
My inside kinda screamed when he picked it up by the handle 🙂
My worries is to not skew/bend it while moving it.
My original idea came from finding this type; https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14514
(I was actually researching a portable Raspberry Pi field case-solution but that's another story).

RE: Rigid mount for mini (or mini inside a portable enclosure)
@mrstoned
I received my Mini last week and I'm also thinking about building a portable enclosure for protection and transport. Thought I'll join this discussion and throw my ideas into the pit.
My idea ist to get a rigid baseplate (+15mm plywood) to mount the printer onto (flexible or rigid). With the cover I think about a removable hood made from 8mm plywood with window-cutouts, that is attached with hooks (similar to the ones used with flightcases) . For full access you'll be able to remove the complete hood. A build in front door gives access to operate the printer. Dimensions of around 45x45x45 cm. Filamentspool placed on top, being inserted through a hole in the top or right side. Other possible features may be carbon scrubbers, led strips, and so on.
What do you think? What does your approach look like?
Best regards

I have about a similar thought.
I have an 18mm laminated board (think cuttingboard) and mounting the mini on that with some L-brackets to stop it moving around.
I was thinking having the roll either inside on right side, outside on right side or on the back side.
Simple ptfe-thruput if placed outside, some sort of pulley(think 3d-printed version of swivel pulley used on boats)
to always make it feed into the sensor/extruder at right angle.
I was thinking of a 2020 extrusion frame with a latch for the board so i can pull out the printer for easy maintenence.
If the frame is sturdy the sides doesn't need to be anything else then for isolation (a few layers cardboard insulates good, cheap and replaceable).
On the other side, a wood frame and sides makes good too. Cheap, simple, no special tools or fasteners but can move/warp depending on humidity and heat. Minor problem if printer is mounted on a separate plate inside so it doesnt move with the frame.
I'm thinking also slot for extra printsheet, some tools etc inside. A grab'n'go box.
I know, i know. I'm usually overthinking and extreme overengineer things i build.
