Mini z axis extension

I am interested in extending the z access length of my prusa mini. The newest firmware has an experimental setting to do this and I see this company has created a kit although it is on backorder.

https://grapid.com/produkt/original-grapid-z-axis-upgrade-for-the-prusa-mini-350mm/

Has anyone done this or does anyone know of a bom of the exact parts needed and where to source them?

Great idea

This has been done before but non the less is a good idea.  The Bear mod does this for the mini.

I wasn't aware of The Bear mod. That is a pretty substantial rework. I wish the grapid project was still active. I received an email from the creator that it is no longer in development. I would like to duplicate the grapid approach as it looks like all it needs is a longer z extrusion, round rods and z axis motor with lead screw.

Can you confirm the spec for the prusa z axis lead screw or what might make a longer replacement for it.  The Extrusion seems to be 3030 but unsure of that as well. The round rods seem to be 10mm.

BTW, thanks for taking the time to reply!

Z axis lead screw specs

Does anyone know where I can find the specs for the mini z axis lead screw? The one I bought to try my extension is not the same. Conversely is it possible to use the new screw and calibrate the z steps?

Z-Motor drawing

Specifically: https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-MINI/blob/master/DOCUMENTATION/ELECTRONICS/mini-motor-kit.pdf

The specs for the threaded rod are on the z-motor drawing.

RE: Mini z axis extension

This post is really old...but I have something.I'm the one who published the Prusa Maxi Upgrade back then. Due to the corona pandemic, we unfortunately had to refund all pre-orders because shipping all the components became so expensive that the product was no longer profitable.

I decided to relaunch the product. I think now is a good time, as the Mini is probably just sitting around for many people. This upgrade brings new life to the Prusa Mini and you can use it for many new applications.

I hope you like it and I would be happy if you would support my Kickstarter campaign:
