Extending Y axis stepper motor wires

I am implementing "Foldable [PMFC] Prusa Mini Fast Compact Mobil Transport Assembling Mod/Kit/Addon for hand baggage" for my mini+ so that I can take it on trips.  I notice the y stepper motor wire does not have a lot of slack.  Any suggestions on how to extend that bundle of 4 wires?  I could insert an extension but not sure what gauge wire and what plug to use?  I bought a molex 4 pin male and female connector but that is big and isn't a good solution due to the shortness of the existing wire.

Thanks,

Craig

RE:

1 meter of 4 wire AWG24 or down to AWG22 should be sufficient.

Connectors JST-XH-4

Thank you for the response. It doesn't look like I can just plug a jst-xh-4p into the control board as an extension as the plugs, though similar, have a different locking mechanism. In this case I will have to cut the existing wire and solder the new leads with the new jst connectors. Sound about right? I can't seem to find the connector that is currently used.
Thanks,
Craig
